Retroanaconda
Evening all, I'm thinking of heading to Strata Florida tomorrow (want to do it before the river gets too nuts this winter), and I was wondering if anyone else is planning to do it/be in the area? Doing it on my own strikes me as kinda scary! Cheers
Orgasmic Farmer
Be warned. Its raining hard and a weather warning has been issued for the area. I would think twice about doing it tomorrow, especially on your own.
disco tony
Is it true that somebody drowned there recently?
Retroanaconda
Haha, the weather forecast lied to me then! I realised too that I don't have any wading plugs either, so in reflection perhaps it's not the best idea. Another time maybe. Cheers for the heads-up
smo
Its a great place, and perfectly safe on your own 99% of the time - however remember rivers swell quickly and i'd not do it at all with the weather we have at the moment!
Paul Humphreys
I have had a text from someone down that way, he is camping at Rahyader. The river next to the camp site is up by about 5 foot. So I would say it is not safe to try Strada. Paul
ada
that text was from me........the river was the worse i've seen it.....will still did Strata, but with caution....i got out and tested the depth the best i could.....it was good to do it, but scary at times...like they say, it can be done on ya own 99% of the time, but we had three motors....its on YOUTUBE..... Lara
Great video and one of the best made I have seen! BUT Those who advise to do Strata Florida on their own regardless of weather should seriously think again! although it may be easy most of the time, all you need is a momentary lapse of concentration (easy to do when all feels easy) and you have a problem! on your own, that could be a Big problem, Safety first, we don't want any more injuries OR bad publicity. Lara.

smo
Whilst it might not be best practice to go on your own its done a lot by many people, i went a lot up in the midlands on my own, and again in wales with the family on board - thing to remember is not to be an idiot and take risks.....which strangely enough if the lanes are suitable to drive there shouldnt be anyway.
