Snapped trailing arm....

Rose weld is as follows,

Drill a hole in the outer surface to be welded, exposing the inner surface to be welded, weld both together making sure that full penetration is given to the lower surface without just filling up the top hole, there are general hole diameter guides for differing thicknesses of outer material but for general use 3x outer material thickness is a good minimum guide,

ie, 3mm wall = 9mm hole, min. But you do need to use your head here! or get some books and learn exactly why.

Lara.

That's known here as a plug weld :)

They look safe enough to me!

When cars were mostly leaf sprung we used to use 2 flat bits of 1/4 plate to lift the backs up!

Standard was just the same on my old Mk2 Cortina and all my mates Escorts at the time!

These while not a great invention look to be made perfectly well for what they are, Except maybe the bolt shank length.

Let's not try and hang this guy eh! now we haven't got Scrap Iron there is no need for a replacement to hate :lol:

I just got my trailing arms from them. They look OK but the "20mm angle" isn't welded at many places. After reading this I take no chance and am going to "plug weld" them as someone here said and also add a few more weldings on the "20mm angle".
