treebloke
Swopped my wheels over today and weighed them during the switch over. Not the most scientific way because I used the bathroom scales but it was the same for both, wait till the mrs sees em . One set is 35" Simex on Mack 5's with Stauns. The other set is 35" fedimas on modulars with steel beadlockers The piece of wood I used to balance them on is one stone so the Fedimas with steel are 11 stone, the Simex with Staun are seven stone. Big difference when you put put some sticky clay on them as well. No wonder the half shafts snap.
Ian M
i think the tyres have a big difference in weight too, when i have your fedimas back off the rims il weigh one and il weigh the simex i have off the rim at the moment!
dangerous doug
isnt it better to have more un sprung weight?
landroversforever
yes and no. More weight down low means a lower centre of gravity... but on the othe hand, more weight on the wheels means more strain on the Half shafts, and also acceleration as there is more weight to speed up. alex milton-haynes
are the fedimas not retreads too, making them heavier?
