pritch1
cant quite work it out only on hill climbs. think it might be from transfer box region but can not be sure its dam annoying though. the other strange noise is a load whine when traveling at over 50 on the road. just want to make sure i fix the right bits

GBMUD
I can't make it out. Sounds like someone saying "A-hay" to me. Oh, the squealing noise? Some damage to the exhaust perhaps? Does it happen on the road at all? Chris
pritch1
nah doesnt do it on the road and cant see any signs of damage etc. i was possibly thinking centre diff. has got worse since the arb rear locker. ps. it wasnt the way hey i was trying to figure out
white90
check the oil in the swivels/diff wheel bearing shot check for any foreign objects aroung tthe brake discs front output flange dust shield make sure it isn''t touching the transfer box. white90
also jack the front up and run it in gear to see if the noise is up front then try it with the rear in the air.
western
Had a listen, it sounds like something rubbing, could be a bent disc dust shield or prop flange guard, but they would do it at all times, most likely the centre diff or transfer box low range gear or bearings. Guest diesel_jim
I can't make it out. Sounds like someone saying "A-hay" to me. Chris Perhaps you've got an Alan Partridge stuck in there somewhere?
pritch1
with it happening only on steep climbs it has sort of ruled a few of these out although i will jack up the front and rear of the car and get it running. Is it possible to be gearbox instead of transfer box. do you think the centre diff would make this sort of noise when under heavy load.
