BigSi110
This is on behalf of Megansfolly, who is currently in a workshop somewhere in Buckinghamshire... He's fitted a 200Tdi into his 90 and his trying to prime the system with the hand pump on the lift pump. When he does this, fuel spurts out of the underneath of the cambelt case. Is this a sign of the injector pump needing new seals and if so, what's involved making the repair? Or what else could be causing the fuel leak? Any help gratefully recieived. western
sounds like either a missing crush washer on the fuel inlet pipe from the lift pump or a internal seal in the injection pump, as the injection pumps are made to fine tolerances I wouldn't recommend stripping it in a standard garage enviroment, would be best removed & taken to a diesl injevtion specialist for repair/recalibration. as if any dirt even the smallest bit will cause untold damage to the pump. white90
http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopi...mp;#entry157623 #Fuel spurting out sounds more like a loose connection.

western
Yes, sort the injection pump out & replace the timing belt & make sure the casing is absolutly clean & dry before fitting the new belt. otherwise in a short period you'll be in there again. 200Tdi's seem to be gentle on thier timing belts, everyone Ive changed has looked in very good condition with no wear on the edges only minute cracks around the teeth when the belt is turned over & bent on itself. Les Henson
You can buy and replace the seal yourself - it's not really any different from replacing any other seal, although the lip can be turned accidentally quite easily. You'll have to replace the belt - the fuel makes it weak. Les.
Megansfolly
many thanks any ideas where i can get the seal from and is this what is coursing my problem
Les Henson
Sometimes the seal just wears out, or the shaft rusts, which creeps under the lip of the seal and accellerates wear. Check there's no play in the shaft itself (if there is - you'll have to get it fixed or replace the pump). The injector pump seal is a Delphi Item (no part number I'm afraid). I did a thread on how to replace the inj pump shaft seal on a TD engine (pretty-much the same job), it seems to have disappeared though. Les. Megansfolly
can u get the key for the key way as well it flew out when the flange finally moved
perv
No woodruff key fitted to those pumps mate. If you check the drive flange you will not find a grove either. You should have locked the shaft in place with the locking/clamping bolt on the side of the pump with the timing hole in the correct position ( 9.5mm pin ) then removed the flange. Now you will have to re-time the pump drive......
Megansfolly
i had pin in but it flew out when flange came off just been and looked think i ve buggered up have take pics flange is just a cylider bo pumps or dents and pump shaft deffo has key way slot
perv
Yes as your photo shows the shaft has a slot for the key but this only used for reference IE; to set the pump timing, The key way is lined up with the correct cylinder then plunger lift is measured fron the 12mm headed bolt hole between the 4 injector outlets. If you can borrow a DTI gauge and fitting you can set this up your self !!!!!!
Megansfolly
many many thanks i scored a line on the pump shaft and the flange so i hope i can line the score line up and press the flange on, what torque does the nut need to be. i owe you big time for this
Les Henson
There's no listing for the injector pump, but the camshaft sprocket should be 45-50nm, so I would suggest using that figure - along with some threadlock/torqueseal.
