Rich_P
its a 1960 but its had a series 3 bulkhead fitted as the old one was rotten ...and S3 front end. I notice it has the latches on the back for a tailgate. Do you think you'll be going ragtop?
chimponastick
yes i would like to put a ragtop on it, aswell as fitting powersteering and a 200tdi engine it had those wings on it when i bought it but i was the one who put the series 3 bulkhead on it. Rich_P
Power steering, why may I ask?
task
Nice looking series The series goes well with the 200tdi.
chimponastick
well im pretty handy with fabrication work and everywere ive read says that by fitting a defender steering box it will eliminate the series wander on the road
Rich_P
I wouldn't be so sure. A Series shouldn't wander all over the road, and ones that have been set up/maintained/repaired properly have steering nearly if not as accurate as Defenders and Discoveries. FridgeFreezer
Series steering can be made less wandery but you still need a PAS box to get power assistance
Jason2
hi guysim phil 21year old student in liverpool and here is my landrover: Nice one chap! Far better than the Golf GTI that I had at your age
chimponastick
hmm just thought if i was buying a discovery to take the engine out of i might aswell fit the power steering aswell, althought i know i will need a defender column, plan is to fit 32x10.5 bfg muds and i have to park in some tight spaces so im sure it will all help. hmmm not sure if i should show you what my other toy is yet
stuntman
Get the cutting discs out and the welder, chop the disco up and drop the engine into the series, along with move the crossmember forward and dropping the power steering into place. You could also convert the disco axles to mate up to the springs, les on her is in the process of doing it and I have a couple of mates who have done this, it makes a pleasany driving series, with period charm. Not to everyone's taste but that's what landrover ownership is all about, make it your own and have a go, if you drop a bollock, you can always grind off and start again or replace that part of the chassis. chimponastick
stuntman you got my plans in one. the idea of the series is that it will be a tow vehicle for this, my other toy
stumonkey17
Good to see someone else in th 'pool with a series on the forum. Very nice looking motor, think you've got a lot less work on your hands than me. Like the idea of the tdi though. Have thought about it myself but haven't got the funds right now. Best of luck with your plans. Hope to see you around town soon.
