Fitting a Take off plate for a oil cooler for a Rover V8

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am going to shove a cooler on, .....come what F may.

Not only will a cooler help with the cooling, but with the extar pipework coller itself

etc you also actually increase the amount of oil in the system available for cooling

and that helps as well :) ....

But

The JED has a special Oil Housing base plate, modfied for the engine,

I am going to find out how key it is I keep this, so excluding this, can

you post up what you have, what you have seen, what options are out

there to fit a cooler take off plate / options etc to a Non Serp Type V8 rover.

I know of only a few, there are the replacement plates and the sandwich bit

between the pump body and base etc, but I know there are loads more and

some really nice options out there,.......... but I don't know about them !

At the moment my Filter is in the normal place, some of these options reloacte this

which maybe fine, but again options etc would be brillinat :)

Pics and descriptions would be good, along with ideas of prices,

guess I'll be using 1/2 BSP size pipey worky .......

Ta :)

In my experience 3 options,

sandwich plate between filter and pump

similar sandwich plate with remote filter

mgb v8 pump bottom for remote filter

(first two £20, 3rd £100)

You can go over the top here but options you could do:

watercooled or air cooler

thermostat

additional pressure gauge

temperature gauge

remote oil sump

Demon tweeks is a good site to browse.....

A remote oil thermostat is a good idea because over cooling can be as bad as over heating.

I have a sandwich plate on my TR7 V8 that incorporates a thermostat. Its very neat and saves four extra pipe joints.

Linky

IIRC RV8s need 5/8" fittings.
