ashtrans
Bogmonster you are very kind, thought I would pipe up as we are doing loads of Defender auto kits at the moment for big V8's, TD5's and 2.4 TDCi's there are a few ways to do this, starting with the cheapest : 1) get from a 300 disco auto : autobox, shifter & trim then from a TD5 disco get : TD5 bellhousing, torque converter, starter ring, boss, flexplate, oil cooler and pipes, hi/lo mounting bracket (FRC8558) 200 tdi disco diff lock lever stick this lot together and make up a linkage off the throttle pedal to pull the kickdown cable, you can buy one of our neat centre consoles if you want to make it look pretty, pros : cheap cons : have to hunt about, won't drive great 2) from a TD5 disco get : autobox with bellhousing, torque converter, starter ring, boss, flexplate, oil cooler and pipes, hi/lo mounting bracket (FRC8558) 200 tdi disco diff lock lever buy from us : compushift console (optional) pros : will drive nice cons : if the autobox is OK ! 3) buy the lot from us pros : will drive nice, no looking for parts, just wave credit card cons : autobox will be OK !, 4) let us supply and fit pros : will drive nice, no looking for parts, just wave credit card (even more) cons : cost 5) option 3 and 4 but with stage 1 or 2 autobox upgrades and converter upgrade. conclusion, forget 1, the compushift is the way to go, only consider 2, 3 or 4, only 5 if you are flush and the box will be working very hard hope this helps, theres more on our web site or email me if you need any more help,
