Phil Hancock
ive got 2 rear salisbury axles i was wondering if i could use the brakes off of them to have 11 inch brakes all round?? Well they will fit but use the 1" cylinders on the rear to keep the front rear balance.
Les Henson
I have 11-inch brakes all round on catflap (SWB S3). Later servo assisted dual circuit system, goodridge hoses, cupro-nickel pipework end-to end. I simply bolted the relevant brake backplates in place of the old 10-inch ones. If you convert from single circuit to dual circuit with servo, you need to repace the whole pedal assembly. Les.
isuzurover
The only problem is that 11" drums normally had a single wheel cylinder in the rear and two 1/2 wheel cylinders in the front (so a leading/trailing shoe setup in the rear and two leading shoes in the front). If you use 11" rear drums all round you will have a leading/trailing setup front and rear. It might work though, never tried it. If you want to change the front to twin-slave later you will need 2x backing plates, 4x wheel cylinders and 2x connecting tubes. The other problem you will have is that the rear cylinders were made to connect to a metal line, whereas on the front you need to use the metal line-rubber hose adaptor which was found on some models. No you dont as 109" rear cylinders are also 88" front cylinders. So no adaptors needed at all.
tiagoc
If you convert from single circuit to dual circuit with servo, you need to repace the whole pedal assembly. Is that (the whole pedal assembly, along with master cylinder) the only required change, if converting from SIII 88'' single circuit to a early Defender 110 servo (dual circuit, I suppose)? ltwt1981
Series 3 had dual circuit, servo assiasted so no probs there either. I did mine this way before going to discs.
