tiagoc Posted February 19, 2010 Share Posted February 19, 2010 The engine starter on my standard SIII 2.25D (3 main bearings) seems to be wanting some attention. I was told the starters from the 200tdi are a good replacement for mine, because they are a direct replacement part (no adapting needed) and have more "power" than the Series standard one. TheRecklessEngineer Posted February 19, 2010 Share Posted February 19, 2010 From what I've heard, yes they are a straight swap. However, a TDi starter has a shorter duty cycle than a 2.25. A TDi starts in the fist few cranks whereas a 2.25 may take several. This can wear out the starter faster. Can't comment on whether this is fact, but I think I read it somewhere.
