Hi All,

The LT77 in the double cab is shall we say goosed, knocking its bag out in 3, 4, 5th anyway any suggestions about where to get one from, Ashccofts i suppose but just thought i`d ask.

Whats pi88ed me off is that this was a recon box 16000 miles ago bought from a local company in Doncaster,13 months ago, contacted them yesterday all i got was sorry out of warranty and over the allowed milage "we can supply you with a another one sir for £---". I declined though not in as few words.

Regards

Keith

Talk to Ashcrofts, & consider a change to a R380, your existing bell housing [if it's 11cm front to rear] will allow you to fit a R380 to the 200Tdi.

from a reply I made in the Defender forum

to mate a 200Tdi to a R380 use the 11cm long 'stumpy' bell housing, IIRC this is the existing LT77 part, LR part number is FRC9865 for gearbox serial number 50A [r380 serial number NOT lt77 my lt77 was 56A] this leaves the gearbox in the original location & locates the engine as per a genuine Defender 200Tdi factory built vehicle.

:D

Ashcrofts …………….. there’s no competition.

Dave built me a LT77S to run with the mildly tuned V8 ………… despite my concerns :D …………. and my love of the right foot on long road journeys  ………….. and the abuse off road ……………. 40K so far, with no problems at all.

Ditto, Ashcrofts are the way to go. I've spent obsene amouts of mney with them in the last 12 months for one simple reason; the quality is second to none.

Keith, there are plenty of people out there who rebuild gearboxes, however, a lot don't do it properly.

Ashcrofts again!

Devon 4x4 fitted an R380 from ashcrofts to our P38a , excellent service alround.

Oh and I got a very prompt full credit on the returned completely goosed box. Getting anything back on a surcharge unit is always a concern so i thought it worth a mention.

Will :)

Ashcrofts it is then, just have to sell one of the grandkids first :D , or then again i would save a fortune just by giving them away grandkids that is
