is it essential to have bumpstops

I have bumpstops on the front but not on the rear, has been like that for at last 5 years. I noticed that the front needed the bumpstops at standard height while off roading, but with a 2" lift they have not been necessary

You also need to make sure (if you are running modified suspension) that the shocks don't bottom out before the axle hits the chassis. Otherwise you will end up with broken/bent/knackered shocks...

It can also mean the difference between the diff hitting the sump and clearing it...
