The Badger
So I had a minor engine oil burn and now I have a engine knock, pretty sure it's and injector gone or maybe more? Have a loss of power now too. Engine knocks on idle and acerlate, but not when you a take the power off. Heading to the artic circle and currently on the boat to Denmark from Harwich. My plan is to meet up with a LR specialist / somone with 4 new injectors (just in case) and swap them over in Esbjerg or between there and Fredrikhavn? Anyone got some bright ideas where / who could help? Got tools to do it by the roadside and can swap for LR parts or just plain old cash? Anyhow, help advice would be apreciated people. Thanks
Turbocharger
Sounds like a bearing to me - have you cracked off the injector lines one by one to isolate the problem? Either way I've got four 300Tdi injectors on the shelf which can go into a Jiffy bag tomorrow if you tell me where to send them (and promise to return them one day!) The Badger
Hey all, so I have ran the engine and inturn, loosened off each injector to see if this is causing the knock, and as it turns out the las one I checked took away the knock, so fingers crossed it is just that injector... Now thanks to Christian I have a man waiting with a new one, and he is gonna tow my trailer to this place. Thanks to all your help I think it will be sorted by tomorrow afternoon. The saga continues...
The Badger
So just a note to say I arrived in the north of Sweden. Engine seams ok now, still lacking a little power though and getting black smoke on start up. Reckon another injector if slightly off and the black smoke is un-burnt fuel in the piston head (well its a theory) Will have a look at replacing the injectors, on a 2.8 I assume the injectors are the same as on a 300tdi, if this is correct has anyone brought the Bosh ones from Paddock? Aragorn
I'm sure i read somewhere that the TGV injectors are different to TDI ones, as it has a different combustion chamber or something? Isnt a puff of black smoke on startup pretty normal for a diesel anyway?
Lars L
Mr. Badger, "North of Sweden" is a vast area... Are you in the vicinity of Kramfors, maybe? I can tell you there is a Land Rover club meet in the area starting on Friday morning. Norfällsvikens Camping to be exact.
The Badger
Mr. Badger, "North of Sweden" is a vast area... Are you in the vicinity of Kramfors, maybe? I can tell you there is a Land Rover club meet in the area starting on Friday morning. Norfällsvikens Camping to be exact. Up here it is pretty vast true, very lovely place though... I am an hour from Umeå, this looks about a few hours North of Kramfors though, also I guess I have missed the meet as I just check the forum now! Oh well now worries, on the landy front I just did the tappets and it is much better, still a little sluggish but I think it could be gearing as I have a 1.2 ratio transfer box. It would be good to know of any LR owners up this way though, was gonna join the swedish LR thing but just had no time at the mo.
Lars L
Joining takes no time at all : http://www.slrk.org/svensk-land-rover-klubb/klubben/medlemsansoekan.html It's however in Swedish, but maybe you can find out.
