Guest noggy
Im currently trying to work out what to do with the fuel tank situation on my 200tdi disco Ive found a tank with a feed/return and breather so is suitable for diesel. But it needs to be used with an external fuel pump, now what pump would i need to use? What diesel cars use external fuel pumps and that i can pick up from the scrappers for chips? On my comp truck i have two tanks a standard 90 main one and reserve to extend the range with out having to carry jerry cans etc.. i just xfer the diesel across to the main tank using an old SU pump (like you would find on a rangy) works fine. but if you only have the one tank surely the lift pump on the engine will do the job? FridgeFreezer
Standard facet carb-type pumps will work, as has been said the old RR one (which is a Facet) should work.
bishbosh
Why do you need a pump? I had a custom tank in my RR bobtail that had feed return and breather and I just connected it up to the fuel lines. Engine ran fine. If you think about it, that is how all 200TDI defenders and Discos are connected - there is no pump in the tank or the lines other than the lift pump on the engine. If you are interested, I still have the custom tank - 17 gallons, sculpted to sit over the wheel arch on the passenger side HERE
Guest noggy
ohh... well ive learnt a lot... i always thought there was a pump inside the tank aswell ooopss Thanks chaps!!
Orgasmic Farmer
As bish says, just plumb it in and away to go. I haved a standard Triumph Spitfire tank on my bobtail disco and I just stuck the existing pipes on to the tank feed and return and away to go. Has never missed a beat, even on steep sideslopes etc.
