Marco
My 200Tdi Defender engine is still fine, some oil in the airfilter but no running problems. I do not if there are any compresson problems etc. But no starting problems at all. Mileage close to 300.000 km / 188.000 mles now. Main question, what is the expected lifespan for this engine, serviced on a regular base, good quality oil etc. Am I in the extra time already or will it easily do 400.000 km? I do consider to get a recon unit but maybe I should wait longer? Any ideas what to expect form a 200Tdi (fitted into 130). Retroanaconda
I should say you've got a while to go yet. One of mine is on 193,000 miles and still going strong, the other on 150,000. Some on here are running 200Tdis over 300,000 miles.

Mean Green
A mate of mine has a 200tdi with almost 650,000 MILES on it. Only just a some problems with it - and I think they were Turbo rather than engine itself.
Marco
OK thanks for the answers! I've just returned from Tuscany engine not missing a beat. Guess it's reliable :-) The 127 might enjoy a little more power... fully laden with camping gear, MTB's, cases of wine, coffee and cheese the Alpes have been a bit of an up hill struggle :-) Cheers Marco
