viscous transfer box

hi all. iv got a defender td5 auto on the build. im planning on putting a viscous transfer box in , but just been looking at a range rover manual and they look to have electrics that control them. may be im rong but do they all have to have electrics to control them?

The actual TX box viscous coupling is the same, whether your donor Range Rover is a Classic or 38A.

So it's down to the Transfer Box rather than the VC.

As the 38A dresses on the left, and the Classic dresses on the right, it depends on the axles you have fitted, but if they are 'old standard' LR you probably want a Classic TX box.

I have no idea what other problems or positives that conclusion brings with it.

The only electrical connection on my late RRC's Borg Warner transfer box with viscous coupling is the speedo sensor.

I have no idea whether that sensor is compatible with a late electronic defender speedo, or whether it can be substituted by the late Defender sensor or cable drive head.
