BigDons
Hi Guys, I have a Autel Maxscan VAG 405 OBD II reader. I can't seem to get it to comunicate with the ECU. Any ideas. I was told it was compatable with my Dicso II 1999 before I bought it. Cheers, Dons x
BogMonster
I think you were told wrong I'm pretty sure none of the vehicles use OBDII
pinhead
If yours is a v8 then you will get basic codes from engine only it's a td5 sorry non of these generic scanners seem to be able to comunicate with them
BigDons
Thanks guys. It's a TD5 Diesel. Dang ! Any suggestions on readers that do work on them ?
David Sparkes
There is a big section on EOBD on some of the RAVE CDs if you want background detail, but I recall that COMPULSORY OBD compliance for Diesels came in later than for Petrol engines. So accessibility is based on the year of your vehicle, rather than the model. HTH EOBD = European OBD. Either may be a useful search term if you want background information but haven't yet got a RAVE CD, directions for which are in the Tech Archive. Bowie69
OBDII for diesels was compulsory from 2003, IIRC.
