stuck
Hi all, Any reason there doesn't seem to be a pinned archive for Memory Map files of legal BOAT's etc? (I guess people may be unwilling to share with reckless users) Could we create one that would only be accessible to forum members? Just a thought. Mick. landroversforever
Because it would be classed as software piracy. Or are you meaning just posting routes? If the latter then I wouldnt see why not if it was just limited access to registered users.
Bowie69
Great in some ways, bad in others.... For instance if we have them posted here saying 'these routes are open' and there's a TRO on a route, and a forumer gets nicked for it... bad days unfortunately. And for them, the excuse 'well LR4x4.com said it was OK' won't work with the Police. It's pretty clear, check with your local council before trying to drive them, no other way to make sure they are legal.
stuck
Sorry, Should have been more specific. I meant for posting routes not dodgy copies of software. There would have to be a proviso that members must check the status of route before travelling as you have said. Mick.
Anderzander
My problem is that I've taken people out who've turned out to be idiots. Nice in person - but drove like an "Person Resembling a Pink Starfish". Treating the countryside like a pay and play. So I think if someone wants just the route they should be prepared to make the same efforts I did in finding it out. I'm happy to take people out where I can make the decision on their character. Sadly the lanes are in too precarious a position to risk sharing with irresponsible people IMO.

I have a couple of good mates who I stopped going laning with because they had no respect for the countryside. Fortunately neither of them own Landrovers any longer, or any other 4x4, so that kinda resolved itself. But yes, locations of routes needs sharing with great care. JJB Serenity
locations of routes needs sharing with great care.... ...I think should be the golden rule in these uncertain times. With so much media attention, the wide availability of 4x4's, and a general disregard for anything sacred, I am more than supportive of a suspicious and secretive attitude towards sharing routes even though, as a relative newby, this means I am less likely to be shown great routes or taken to place by those with more experience. The price we have to pay to keep our hobby alive I'm afraid.
