rocky
Hi, I have just spent a happy 1/2 hour trying to fit a steering guard to my defender, only to find that the space between the pre-drilled holes (width wise) is about 10 mm out. I'm going to have to put a 5mm penny washer on each bolt between the chassis and the mounting plates for the holes to line up Has anybody else come across this or am I just unlucky? Regards, rocky
western
or use the transport tiedown rings as spacers between chassis & steering guard, these are approx 10mm thick IIRC.
rocky
I did it the hard way, elongated the slots on the mounting plates. Yhanks for the reply, rocky
Escape
I remember having similar problems on the Tdci, and solved it as Western suggests, with a tiedown ring.
Happyoldgit
I've fitted the same Southdown guard on my last three TD5's and two Puma's without any problem other than a bit of easing of the brackets with a large lump hammer
