Plastic Inner Wing Trim

Hi All

Range Rover classic 1989. Just removed the plastic trims from inside the front wheel arches for access. Question is, is it absolutely necessary to put them back? Anyone running without them with any problems? They obviously stop crud and water from spraying too far up inside the wing, but they also trap LOADS of crud behind them, obviously causing extensive rot. Got enough rot traps as it is.

I assume there was no such thing under the winds of earlier rangies...

Leave them off, and just make sure you get under there with a hose/pressure washer every once in a while..... You are right, they cause the rot in the inner wings where the studs push through.

I've had both. With them fitted you get fretting on the back of the wing that rusts through, you get rot at the bottom edge of the wing where they bolt through and you get rot around the plastic trims.

Without them you get rot at the front of thr A post, the wing top rail, the edge of the floor and behind the headlight.

Range Rovers go rotten, it's just a case of where.
