4x4landy
I managed to break mine while swapping out my turbo . Thinking of replacing them all with silicone . Any idea what internal mm hose I need ?? 3 /5mm ??
JimAttrill
Same as the original I would guess. But I don't think the soft silicone pipe is suitable. The original is hard plastic. I would try to get something of the same strength and heat resistance.
4x4landy
Yeah trying to work out what mm it is . And why wouldn't silicone be suitable ?
Orgasmic Farmer
Silicon gets soft when warm and that hose works on a vacuum so would likely squeeze flat. Hence the use of rigid plastic.

I thought that pipe was under pressure when turbo is blowing, not a vacuum
Orgasmic Farmer
Hmm, maybe you are right. Always assumed it was a vacuum for some reason (throwback to carburetor days)
fozsug
Which pipe/pipes are you talking about? The pipe from the fuel pump to the turbo, which as said above is ridgid plastic and should be replaced with the same, its only £ 15.00 genuine LR. Or are you talking about the pipes from the turbo to the intercooler and inlet manifold, which do benifit by being change to Silicon pipes.? 4x4landy
The small one that goes from pump to turbo . Why can't it be silicon?? I mean on a rs turbo there silicone ??
vulcan bomber
they can be anything you like as long as it will hold the pressure and is oil resistant.. Washer jet hose has worked for me in the past.
4x4landy
Vulcan just what I was thinking . I'm sure on my dads 300 it's got clear washer hose for a section of it . Going to order a new 2m length of blue or black silicone and a new boost gauge !
