Our experience of buying from Stratstone

Recommended Posts

Hi Nick,

I had a look at the Stratstone website the other day and got the impression it was a chain/franchise. Was this one site you were getting carp from or the head office? Which site did you buy from?

Glad you are getting a resolution to the problems :)

All my dealings were within the Nottingham branch, though I had to threaten the service and sales staff with going to the head of the franchise. How much that specific threat, or the threat of going very public or the plain logic that they were in breach of contract and negligent in their lack of vehicle preparation and that my contract was with them alone, making them solely responsible is debateable, but the combined and somewhat frank discussion worked anyway.

That said, we still haven't got the car, and though Sturgess have promised it'll be ready by Friday at the very latest, which includes delivery of the new window and the external specialist fitter coming in, who knows what else will go wrong with either the car or service?

Landymanluke, I'm sure you didn't mean to be insulting, but do you think I'd post this thread unless my patience had already been exhausted by trying in vain to be reasonable? I'm not an idiot, so please don't treat me as so. It seems that a decent and politic approach gets yo nowhere these days - I have had the same problem with my new house, with complaints about build quality faults ignored until I started getting angry with them too.

I certainly didn't mean to cause offense, if I have, I apologise. To be honest, my comments were aimed more towards other replies implying that creating a spectacle was the first and preferred choice, which I don't think it is.

Its exactly this sort of situation and hopeless arrogance and poor customer service and support (let alone the 35th out of 35th JD Power survey results for relaibility !! ) that stops

me dead in my Tracks from spending out on a new LR, and why sadly I have a 5 series

When its MY money, reliability is paramount, and the total assurance that IF something goes wrong the back up is there.

I have friends who have shelled out on Sports and full bodied RRs all rue any contact with the dealers, one frind had a £80 vogue, it had a horrendous shake on braking from day 1

turned out brakes where bowed (discs) and was told it was the way he had driven it. After a huge "Legal" discusssion they begrudging changed them, but he STILL had to contribute !, his comment was I just

could be bothered to argue any more, I'll get rid of its and Get a Lexus again.

LR are hopeless, some dealers more so than others, but the Brand Image is strong enough for more lambs to the slaughter it seems, shame they can't be good

:(
Hope you still enjoy it when you get it vback and the joy hasn't been wiped away from all the ag

:(

Fair enough - it can be tricky to interpret someone's intented message from the post sometimes, such is the limitation of text. I've been a bit wound up lately, too, between theis, the same treatment over the house and being screwed around at work: I got a phone call from our rostering staff asking when I'd like to use up my unused leave. I gave them the dates for my daughter's birthday, and they subsequently assigned 20 days of leave but have me working those days, and they have also given me that keave so I have a 22 day period with just one day's work right in the middle so I can't use the leave productively. I seem to be surrounded by idiots and "Persons Resembling a Pink Starfish" of late...
