Boothy
Same dates as 2 rounds of the popular Midlands based LRS which some of us have just signed up for...... .
red90 driver
Bloody hell! Thats 2 out 4 sites that involve a 300 mile round trip. 4 hours driving before we start, then 4 hours back. Don't think I'll be doing many of these events this year methinks! Good job we won the Challenge North West trophy for this year. Whats happened to the map of the UK that I was taught? Since when has Kirton and Peterborough been relocated to the North West? Next year the NW will include Maidstone and Aberdeen.....
ex_mod_90
I am afraid I am in the same boat as Nick. Living in the North West, both the Kirton & Yarwell events are a circa 300 mile round trips. For me the key advantage that the Challenge NW events had was that they were locaish in the North West. Sadly I can only see us doing 2 of the Challenge NW events which is a shame. Rich. Me too. :-( I was looking forward to this series as the title suggests AWDC Challlenge NW. The truck is half built so i wanted to start watching and learning ready to compete maybe next year. Maybe by then the title will be renamed Challenge UK
najw
Sadly we don't have the choice of sites available to use to run a series in just one corner of the country. Some of the sites we used last year are not available to us this year. We had hoped that by adding a couple of premium sites to the series people would be prepared to travel a little further for the experience. Also bear in mind that none of the team that has stepped up to the plate to organise the events this year actually lives in the North West. The 300 mile round trips were the norm for Sue and co last year.
red90 driver
Neil, I don't dispute that Kirton is a really good site, but finances just will not permit.... I would have loved to have done 6 rounds this year, or even all four of the NW series, but thats life. We will be doing Mow Cop and Wigan for sure. Any other events will be a bonus. mrsbadger
After to listening to everyone's comments, we have been working hard in the background to try and solve the problems. Unfortunately whilst we CAN move the sites, we CANNOT move the dates. We are simply unavailable on any other weekends. Bob Smith has made us the very generous offer of using Uplands Coppice again this year after he had decided to rest the site for most of it. So the partly revised calendar is 21th April New site near Wigan 16th June Mow Cop, Congleton 8th September Uplands Coppice 3rd November Yarwell, Nr Peterborough - for now but we are hopefully looking at a more local site asap and will move it if the site is suitable. We run these events on a voluntary basis, at our own expense for travel etc and up to now have enjoyed doing so, lets try and keep it that way. So we are listening and doing our best to change the things we can and to quote a phrase from the forum announcements last year We are northern so don't be picky
