ponnyj
Hi guys. Just wanting a little help with diagnosing a problem I'm having with the trip on my 300tdi 130. It seems to be reading about 80% of the actual miles traveled. I've just noticed as I've done 600idh miles this week with work (worked out on google) and the trip is showing 450 or there abouts. Wondering. If anyone has had this before. Could it be the speedo cable or something in the cluster??
landroversforever
First thing, what size tyres are you running? If they're massive, it can mean its underreading on the speedo. I had similar when my speedo head was dieing... But it was acompanied by the speedo flicking right up and down when going along and stopping working sometimes. ponnyj
It's got 7.5 continental "offroad"'s on.
Escape
It's not the tyre size then. Is your speed reading still acurate? Check with a GPS if you haven't already. If both are reading too low, it's probably the cable or wiring from the speed sensor. If the speed is correct, but trip (and total) aren't, it has to be internal to the speedo. steve b
300 Tdi s are cable driven speedo does it have the original transferbox? - if a Disco one has been fitted and the speedo drive gear not changed it'll under-read miles and speed Also if the rear tbox output shaft nut is not tight the speedo drive gear can slip on the shaft hth Steveb
SteveG
As per Steve's post you can alter speedo gearing, so even if tyres are back to stock levels, if someone has changed gearing it will be out.
