dirtydiesel
I'm new in here so be nice to me Is there a list anywhere of the sensors that work best with Ms? ie, tps, ect? i'd be after somthing that give me thread sizes and such so i can adapt my manifold to suit. I'll sit back wait for the flaming!
dirtyninety
Clicky linky Thats what I intend to use for the MAT sensor, and weld to a pipe similar to what nige sells. Have you been reading the megamanual at all? clicky linky
FridgeFreezer
Coolant & air temp - use the GM ones mentioned in MegaManual or use the Rover V8 coolant one as we know what that is. Unknown sensors you would need to find out their response curve and run it through the calculator. The Commercial Ignition parts book used to give thread sizes etc. or you can epoxy an RS 151-215 thermistor into whatever it is and use that (they have the same response as GM sensors) but they are quite fiddly! TPS - I would hazard a guess that anything with 3-wires should do. Ones with more wires may be usable by ignoring the extra wires, but unless you can find out how they behave I'd assume not. dirtydiesel
I'd forgotten about the Megamanual! What's the part number for the rv8 sensor? And what connection is it Junior timer? I'm pretty sure my merc is on a 5 wire tps, so I'll adapt a 3 wire on to the throttle body once I've dug my way down to it! Next thing to sort out is what injectors to use, I need to fuel 8cylinders, 300+hp and 5.6litres.
Hybrid_From_Hell
Yes standard JPT connector I have M14 x 1.5mm weld on bosses in Ali and Steel, and M18 x 1.5 in Stainless or Steel The Bosch injectors I have on the 5.2 will be big enough - I am unsure if I put the number in the V8 Porn thread, but will dig the part number out and post up - they are also decent value !! Next thing to sort out is what injectors to use, I need to fuel 8cylinders, 300+hp and 5.6litres.You want high-impedance (Hi-Z), Rover V8 ones might just stretch although bigger ones might be better depending how big a "+" is after the 300 number. I'll meter the tps when I excavate it over the weekend. As for how big the + is other than a making some exhaust manifolds it will be stock, factory standard it's 300hp with cats ke-jetronic and distributor. I found some guy in the state's that had dyno'd before and after squirting and he'd picked up nearly 60hp. So as a ball park 350hp is what the injectors need to flow. I can lay my hands on some second hand bmw e36 m3 injectors. Would it be worth while having them ultrasound cleaned and tested?
Chazza
I can lay my hands on some second hand bmw e36 m3 injectors. Would it be worth while having them ultrasound cleaned and tested? Yes it would, but ask the person who does them if you can view their equipment and get them to fully explain their reconditioning process. A friend of mine used to do them and the process is basically this; 1. Visual inspection for damage - dodgy mechanics can often break the injector end! 2. Stripping and ultrasound cleaning. 3. Spray pattern and flow test - four injectors at a time are tested together into four graduated cylinders. Poor pattern, or flow-rate outside the tolerance, earns the injector another ultrasound. 4. New seals etc. injector passed fit for service, or tagged u/s and given back to the customer. The injectors should be as good as new, or they are scrapped, at a fraction of the price of a new one, Cheers Charlie
FridgeFreezer
New injectors can be picked up cheap-ish from Summit Racing, potentially cheaper than buying used + cleaning etc. and you can chose the flow rate you need.
dirtydiesel
I have got some e36 m3 3.0 injectors on the way, running the numbers 8 of them would support 375hp I doubt the heads on mine will flow anything like the m3 though! Dug the tps out today, its a 3 wire but its not a potentiometer though its an wot switch.
