Gremlin
Who remembers the gone to far suspension products site?? (fridge, you should) I am looking for 2 greasable spring bolts. Any one know if i can get a pair from somewhere?? I know the US guys have them, but in a land rover size?? Any ideas of what would be an equivalent fitment vehicle?? jeep? model? boq........ I could have a pair made but finding them ready always seems a better option..................unless they cost the earth! G
secondjeremy
Grease bolts used to be used in leaf sprung trailers - maybe a trailer axle manufacturer still makes them.
Snagger
I was under the impression they were just modified standard bolts drilled lengthways and a cross drilling at the end of the long drilling to the mid point of the bush depth, tapped in the head to take a nipple. Gremlin
Could be, and that where it will end. In the US they have several of these bolts hence my curiosity. G
ToyRoverlander
Why bother? Standard bushes and the polybushes have inner metal sleeves. Pumping grease between the bolt and the inner sleeve is quite pointless.. Leafsprung LandCruisers for instance dont use inner sleeves in those bushings, so using greaseable bolts can be usefull. Gremlin
Well the sleeve needs to have holes as well, plus the poly bushes should be slotted (nothing a hacksaw wont fix) Its more of an experiment in my case, as i am fed up with squeaking from the rear front ones! ToyRoverlander
That should work than. Mine don't last long enough to start squeeking, they're about knackered before the grease has a chance to dry up
greenmeanie
If your up to paying the shipping Great Basin Rovers in SLC in Utah sells the bolts and bushings to go with them. You might have to call or e-mail them to find out though.
