24 volt 2.8 TGV alternator

6 pot

Recommended Posts

Good evening

I am half way through fitting a 2.8 TGV into my defender however I need it to be 24 volt. The glow plugs starter motor ETC are no problem I used wolf parts. The alternator has the vacuum pump built into the back of it. Can I fit a 24 volt regulator in place of the 12 volt one? Is it that easy? If not where can I get a 24 volt alternator that I can fit my vacuum pump on to?

Thanks for your time

Cheers Rob

Give it double the field coil voltage and get double the output voltage? Maybe? I'd ask at re-conditioners, because the same internal parts might do both voltages/units? Or at least have common pump and body.

A new one looks a bit pricey, but I guess there is quite a lot to it. And you probably move up from domestic to commercial grade or something :)
