Team Idris
Yes if it is the later build, but maybe not if it is the weird diffs (long nose? for 1948/9) Even then only the props change (as far as I know) It was a common fix to save an overdrive back in the day.......... The diff comes from the rover car originally like the gearbox, and the axle case looks pretty much the same. They stretched it a bit width ways for S2/3 and a bit more for rangy. The only change you see is the metric diff, which has two more long studs. But still the same flange pattern. Other than that it all pops in each other It's nice when they don't change stuff
Daan
You might have to cut a hole in the diffpan to fit a filler plug, depending on what year diff it is. Daan
Team Idris
Ah, forgot about that. Drill a new bung or pour the correct volume of gear oil down the half shaft hole before the hub goes back on.
missingsid
If it is an original 80" rear axle then it will have car type fixed hubs and bearings so it would be better to change to later S2/3 floating half shaft axle? If it is a front axle then as above. Marc.
xychix
I assume if you want to change diff with another ratio you'll have to do front and rear
