Anf
My 52 plate Defender is playing up! 12 months ago I had issues with engine staring ok, but no revs when put in gear. My local (40 miles away) independent Landy specialist, replaced the throttle pedal and tidied up up the wiring around the ecu and that seemed to resolve the problem. Now I have a slightly different issue with engine staring ok but just not revving. My local (2 miles away!) garage have run the diagnostics which initially cleared the problem but then it returned a few days later. They are suggesting only answer is replace the ECU - 1. Is there anyway that I can confirm it is definitely the ecu? 2. Second hand parts seem scarce 3. Also there seems to be an issue with compatibilty on NNN v MSB codes for vehicles of the age Any advice would be much appreciated cheers Andy
Ally V8
It shouldn't be that hard to sort out,the throttle pedal uses a 5v supply from the ecu,all of which should be visible as live data.Shorts or open circuit faults in the loom are quite common with the driver demand circuit.(Throttle pedal) I have repaired these by using a piece of 7 core trailer wire and making an overlay harness between the sensor and ecu. I also keep test ecu's on the shelf to prove faulty ones if the loom and sensors check out OK. LR no longer do service exchange ecu's,only new ones, but s/hand are easy enough to find or have your own repaired if that is what is needed. They are not rocket science, most LR indies have them sussed...
henk
MSB on a late Def: will run but it will not be right. as the MSB was for the early EU2 engine only. The EU3 engine has higher pressure in the injectors so it will be overfuelling. NNN on early Def: no problem
landy andy.
As above. Rewire ECM to pedal. Very common problem but easily solved, and not costly. Andy

landy andy.
Yes mate. Can't find the rest of the posts I wrote about it. History does not appear to go far enough back. Andy
Anderzander
The site search function only seems to go back to when the software had a big update. A search on Google with something like : site:lr4x4.com landy andy td5 ecu pedal Should bring something more up - though the words may need changing for better results. rhaynes
With regards to issues with Driver Command errors and no response from the throttle pedal I have this on my 2003 TD5 Defender. ECU has been replaced and made no difference and now a pedal has been ordered. Anyone actually finally resolved this issue on their own vehicle and if so what was the outcome? landy andy.
Yes. As written above. Rewired ECM to pedal assembly. Problem solved. Andy
