daveturnbull
I want to wire up some switches on the dash for the front winch (superwinch husky) but not sure what size cable I should use? I'm assuming it only carries a switch signal, no real load, some something pretty skinny will be fine. e.g http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151098156884 Need a 4 core. Thoughts? jackmac
I'd probably get some cable with a bit more than 1 amp rating... Think the fuses on mine are 5A so cable bigger than that
Cynic-al
It's got to switch electromagnetic solenoids so I would need thought a few amps. Can't remember what size I used on mine but it would be easy to measure with an ammeter.
Boydie
Just use normal automotive 10 amp rated cable, I wired my hand-held controller to a 7 pin round "trailer" weather proof socket mounted on the front near side wing when I relocated the winch control panel from above the winch to under the bonnet to get it well out of the water. The 10amp cables work fine.
zardos
For this was answered recently in http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=93269Allbright solenoids can draw up to about 3Amps in worst case scenarios

Mo Murphy
I always use 3 core wire for stuff like lawnmowers for my remote switch. You can buy it off the roll in places like B&Q. It's flexible, well sheathed and can handle the current. Mo
Disco-Ron
I used trailer cable. .. seven core. That way I could switch between inside or outside use. And in and out obviously. ... I like to kill the power to the solenoid in case someone decides to bugger about with it. ....
