Simon_CSK
As the title suggests my Radio is turning itself off but this only happens when the passenger front window is fully down. Really strange so any ideas?

Simon_CSK
LOL , Good one Simon , Only on a P38 eh . Yes only a P38. I wouldn't bother but my kids always wind the window fully down when they get in the car on a sunny day. What I cannot work out is why it should only do it with one window and not the other three. David Sparkes
Possibly the window mechanism is fouling the speaker wires, and has done it often enough to cut through the insulation and short out the speaker. A short circuit on the speaker circuit could (I suspect) fry the output stage, so the radio shuts down to protect itself. Alternatively, the radio isn't actually switching off, it's just that the short circuit is taking all the power, so the other speakers aren't getting enough signal to function. Regards. I don't think the radio is switching off just the sound is going. I had the window down today and it didn't do it although I have another problem with the window motor on that door in that the window tends to distort and has to be manually assisted to life right up. Been meaning to look at it for a while.
simonr
I had a Sony radio which switched itself off if you shorted the speaker wires! I thought it was bust - until a 'grown-up' explained and I found where the wires were intermittently chafing. It required the power to be cycled to switch on again - which was a PITA.
