speedometer problems . help

need some advice. defender 90. 300 tdi auto

i have recently got a 300 tdi ,autobox and transferbox from a discovery.

the transfer box has a speedsensor fitted , instead of a speedo drive to run cable.

what parts will i require so i can use my 90 speedo cable .

the parts place at local 4x4 place isnt being very helpful.

I thought the speed transducer just went in the hole the speedo cable went in, have you tried? Recently discussed swapping a dead 300 disco manual speed transducer with a TD5 defender one

Remove it and have a look

Remove the transducer, get the U shaped retainer plate & slot the cable into place as per a standard mechanical speedo 90 or 110

What Ralph said, remove the sender, and the cable will go straight in with the U shaped clamp to hold it in.

I agree with everyone, I have a Range Rover classic with speed sensor speedo, which has never worked, I changed the sensor which is just a box that a short speedo cable goes into. The gearbox end is just the same as the good old speedo cables. My speedo still does'nt work, an ECU problem I think.
