  1. The opening on the dash isn’t for a binnacle - it’s a digital speedo. Just saw it explained on another review.
  2. Honestly - the ARB’s are long term, my enthusiasm for what you are doing is just being in awe of the work.
  3. I can echo a lot of this. I had 4.2’s in and it was fantastic on country roads, loads of pep and third gear was lovely. However, it just ran out of speed and was really uncomfortable even at 50 mile an hour. Then one of the diffs let go. So I tried 3.54’s in and it was awful. Better on a the motorway or a fast A road - but in traffic or on the windy B roads it spend most of its time on, it was awful. I hated it. So I sourced another 4.2 and couldn’t put the P4 diffs back in quickly enough, and I am now fitting an overdrive. That’s the answer for me. Having settled on the rations I’d next like to buy someone’s 10 spline arbs and get them rebuilt with Ashcroft 4.2 Ring and pinion, so it’s all new and solid.
  4. I just can’t get over how massive everything is. what do they say? That’ll still be here when just the cockroaches are left.
  5. The dual sunroof, either side of the roof console, looks interesting.
  6. I quite like it too 🙂 But it was a pretty poor video, the questions were led and clumsy - and we didn’t really learn much other than from the visuals ? Nothing about the config of the rear seats, nothing about the load area, nothing much about the functions of any of the dash features… At first I thought it looked a lot like a puma layout - but I seemed to quickly forget that. It does look to be modern but also practical, which I guess was the goal.
  7. If it’s a magnesium wheel it might just add to the glamour ?
  8. I’ve just done that to take some tyres off. Jacked it from the front so it has the engine weight, used the hi-lift for the small footprint so the load wouldn’t spread. It wasn’t too bad - but getting the tyres off with my short levers afterwards was really really hard work …
  9. I haven’t Ross - what are those like ?
  10. It’s obviously a risk based decision - so things like laning or going abroad either increase the impact or likelihood of a puncture …. But after so many years on UK roads, it makes me wonder … Especially if they are looked after, are very robust tyres by design, and aren’t subject to high speed stresses. This also made me think - in that same period I’ve never had a puncture, my wife’s car hasn’t, whilst it has covered plenty of road miles and has not been carrying a spare. 🤔
  11. Over the last 20/25 years, when driving on the road, I’ve never needed to use the spare wheel ….. What’s people’s view on not carrying one ?
  12. Are there any that look like standard ? Or is fitting bulbs the only option for that ?
  13. That’s a great shout - thank you !
  14. Thanks Mo - I forgot about them ! I’ll have a look.
  15. Are there any recommendations for cargo nets please? I want to put one in the back of my 80” as ceiling storage - Some I’ve looked at look like they will be super flimsy …. (Lots on eBay) Some seem insanely expensive? - https://rocknroad4x4.com/product-category/webbing-cargo-nets/ Some look like they may be the right sort of quality / price ? https://www.kaiserkraft.co.uk/cargo-restraints/load-securing-nets/cargo-net/for-car-lxw-900-x-900-mm/p/M4521995/?articleNumber=532181&utm_content=Cargo-restraints>Load-securing-nets&utm_term=532181&customerType=B2C&PC=1GOS&storefront=current&gclid=CjwKCAjwz_WGBhA1EiwAUAxIcY7u7fu3SNBkQ0ohRIZ23c-eZJUzuvYxxJPWh7ystUE0TJJrY4BFVBoCABEQAvD_BwE Any insights people could share would be appreciate 🙂
  16. Loads of info shared here - thank you everyone. i was looking at this kind of thing for a stove: https://www.cadacinternational.com/2-cook-pro-deluxe/ Pro’s would seem to be two burners so we aren’t trying to feed 3 people from one pot. It has its own ignition, so we can just open it and go. Plus it will take a decent sized canister and hopefullly burn cleanly?, lastly I’m thinking the lid will work as a wind break. It’s quite expensive though and quite big …. Cookware wise I hadn’t thought of the Trangia stuff … I’ll look more closely at that. This looked good value and well reviewed: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/hiker-s-camp-mh500-stainless-anti-stick-coating-2-people-2-1l/_/R-p-174678?mc=8492728&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=SurfacesForGoogle&utm_content=8492728-2558437&iv_=__iv_p_1_g_64518333258_c_316344235439_w_pla-329717981462_n_g_d_m_v__l__t__r_x_pla_y_15177021_f_online_o_8492728-2558437_z_GB_i_en_j_329717981462_s__e__h_9046573_ii__vi__&gclid=CjwKCAjwz_WGBhA1EiwAUAxIcfeIoSo8u9Zv43LMJYxbz741QEqtEoV7Bb6rFbQaxqS6_wDb-ICMLxoC1GAQAvD_BwE I’m not sure how nice the bowls and the mugs would be to use - but non of the reviews seem to call that out as a problem, and for stainless and at that price - it seems very good. The absence of lids isn’t great though.
  17. Can I ask what people use and recommend for stoves and cookware? I need to upscale to some more family friendly set up for in the back of the Land Rover and would welcome any input people have. On the cookware - I’m reading endless reviews that all seem to point at different products. Something that packs down well would be good and we are going to need pans, plates/bowls, cutlery and a kettle. On the kettle thing - I did quite fancy a Kelly kettle, I’d enjoy a fire and the base camp edition has quite a lot of stuff in it ….. but I’m not sure how it compares to the convenience of a gas stove. If we want to stop for lunch and then move on again, I’d imagine finding fuel to get it going and then getting it to cool down might be a bit of an undertaking - compared to turning the gas on and making a quick sausage sandwich.
  18. I think I’d rather end up with heavy and invincible. I also like that you’ll end up with a lightweight that isn’t.
