I’ve had too many CB cylinders fail on me - so I’m now looking to put in a CV type. The CV cylinders still seem to be made to a decent quality and seem easier to bleed - am I right on that? If so - any recommendations for a brand to go for ? I’ll need some new pipework to do this - so it also seems like a decent time to perhaps get a flaring kit and fittings - does anyone have any recommendations there ? I’ll need to make up two short lengths: Female 7/16 UNF to Male 7/16 UNF Male 3/8 UNF to Male 3/8 UNF

The only new car I’ve ever bought was a Skoda citigo for my Mum. She was being ripped off by garages maintaining and repairing older cars. So I started to think what would £5k buy me in the little, pretty new, low tax, hi mpg cars - and the answer was not much at all. So I started looking at a bit more money and a bit more money and then realised they hold their value and I was getting close to a new price. The citigo was a bit over £9k with a deposit (can’t remember what it was) 4 years 0%, and a cheap servicing deal. It was £131 a month. After 4 years the settlement was under £3k I think - and that was for a full service history car , with under 1000 miles on it. It was a no brainier. I don’t know what the exact mpg is, but it’s around 60mpg. Whilst the tax is £20. It is very cheap motoring, and really quite fun to drive too.

....and it seemed exotic and high performance ! especially compared to the drinking straw out the back of our viva.

For me being badly executed is the first failing, then it being fake, but what really irks is taking that next step to rip people off.

I’ve had a brake fluid leak onto my chassis, which was painted in two pack ... and it’s quite odd. Its not burned off the paint at all - but made it softer and deeply wrinkled, almost like it’s soaked through the paint and collected underneath it. There is no sign of rust, and I wondered if that maybe because it’s holding the fluid (oil), or simply because the paint surface has stretched and sagged but not torn. I’d expected it to lift it right off, like paint stripper would. Daft question - what would you do with it? Cutting into the wrinkles and then scrapping the soft paint off seems the obvious way to re-do it. Anything I’m missing?

I think that’s the way the credit works - because the expensive ones retain more value the payments are lower.
