Nice spec Some chassis aren't as bag as others, those who've respectfully protected them are often better, preparing and painting rather than spraying wax oil on the outside?? Then injecting wax oil properly as it should be used. For those with chassis rot there are repair sections being made by companies to help, rails by some but they're more a patch than a proper repair. D2s as mentioned have their issues, electrical faults is one, dodgy door locks that fail at around 10 years old, air bags serviceable at 10 years old, questionable if ACE was supposed to last much longer than that as we see a lot failing Clutches starting to go now, with a flywheel you're looking about £650-700 fitted. Servicing is important In their defence I have had my TD5 D2 for nearly 6 years and spent under £200 on repair parts. She's had a set of discs and pads, serviced every 6k, new tyres

For us as a smaller trader it's a useful show to see what is coming out from some companies It's a chance to see the manufacturers, speak with them, decide who to deal with and who not to. Often based on build quality, attitude and knowledge Peterborough wasn't as good this year as it was last year IMO, less traders, more expensive food, lots of empty spaces. What is also alarming is the 'won't be around for long' companies with stock that looks pretty but god awful products, badly made for whatever reason welding issues and saved by a grinder, unsafe wiring, badly thought out amongst others. There's a market for these as they're often cheap, but my goodness it's scary what some will buy. Stack it high and sell it cheap seems the name of their game. Then you get better quality from say raptor and x who are thought out well, designed properly, longer lasting. Someone making racks of stuff from odd off cuts at work & cheap who can compete with that for the want a bargain buyers? 2 shows that look promising to take off are Donnington & Harrogate. Donnington because it is not just Land Rover, Harrogate was just a really pleasant well organised show, I really enjoyed it The issue for me with Billing is it is spoilt by thefts and morons, a real shame Eightpot totally get what you mean but the popularity of these stalls are reducing, there were some of the 'cheque book' companies who were really struggling for punters all weekend. They would be better placed at somewhere like the Top Gear show where you're more likely to find someone who doesn't want to self build and wants something pretty. There are some good companies providing the average owner with some innovative and interesting products, but filtering these from the carp, is not easy. Seen way too many items including from one or 2 bigger suppliers that made my eyes pop out as you just wouldn't take something that was built so badly to a show

Yes the ones I've seen in the past primarily are those which are on runners however while the garage is adapted and extensions are made we need portability hence the thought of the framed versions. Only problem I can see is we will need several and as a temp measure that's pretty costly. Glare isn't so much an issue as the possible damage especially if they're not our vehicles as you can no doubt understand I want to make sure nothing damages them. I'm going to contact suppliers of both see what they say about them.

Oh we have had a few of those over the last couple of weeks, most are much smaller (after melting)

Sorry it's not the masks I am looking for, it's screens to stop bits of weld getting on other things in the garage. Some call them welding curtains. Needs to be portable too as we're still working on the garage and he needs to be able to use it in different places while the work is ongoing

Wondering where to buy and which ones are decent. Live in the north east so collect up here or Somewhere that delivers. We've ended up with a list a mile long of work that needs doing but wanting to protect the other cars etc Thanks for any help

Well done. Replaced ours recently and agree with the discs, eBay and classic car rallies seem to be the cheapest places for them. Not easy working in the street and stopping for passers by but shows it can be done.

We looked at probably every roof tent and have decided that unless we do choose to start staying on Tarmac (wouldn't now) we don't need one and the weight issue puts me straight off. Plus loosing so much roof space for one item when touring. We have a dog and 2 kids so we don't have much boot space left for touring. Have you got the option of a normal tent when you're not staying 'somewhere they can't be used' then a roof tent for the others you can take off and store?

Fair point especially with the price of metals rocketing up! It's probably just cost me more to make rock sliders than buy them

We have a Thule one which is ok. Halfords do a one that mounts onto the spare wheel I think but not sure how good it is
