  1. Hi,I have an 04 TD5 with just Hi/Lo range. The old Diff lock position/function is now controlled by the ABS. True diff lock appears an optional extra. Regards
  2. Hi Scrumps, When you say "..from underneath" do you mean having first removed the 2 other bolts and lifted the cover up to give acess from in between the cover and rocker cover or from underneath the outside of the cover under the actual bolt? Regards, Bear
  3. Hi Everyone, I've just changed my faithfull 200tdi for an 04 TD5 and whilst giving it the once over this weekend I was unable to remove the single o/s bolt securing the plastic engine cover. The 2 n/s ones were ok as they fix into the head but the o/s one is turning as if there is a captive nut behind that's come loose. I tried putting some tension on the bolt head with a screwdriver to no avail. Can anyone please tell me exactly what it bolts into (manual no help)and a possible solution to remove it. I suspect this will be the first of several questions to the "knowledge bank" until I get used to the new beast Many thanks, Bear
  4. I agree with Scrumps. There should be a lug on the ring which on my RHD Disco 1 200tdi is at the 9 o'clock position. With the steering wheel and cowl off (and front wheels jacked up to make things easier) it's easy to see how the self-cancelling works and find the fault.
  5. The Bearmach parts catalogue is also good for exploded diagrams. Can download as a PDF.
  6. Hi, Thanks to the info from SiWhite I had a look at the website and there seems to be no end of problems down to computer software. No hope of us "mortals" being able to maintain these beasts then. Regards, Bear
  7. Hi Folks, I have a Disco 1 200tdi and was looking to the future when I have to change it. I was wondering if anyone on the site have had dealings with the new Disco 3 and 4s (or are they to new for us "spannerers" to get our hands on yet!) Things like ease of servicing and known problems. Doesn't seem anything following a search on the forum. Thanks in adavance. (And we all might learn something )
  8. Try taking the batteries out and pressing the button for about 20 seconds to completly discharge unit, then re-insert batteries.
  9. Thanks for the info. Problem turned out to be both front brake calipers u/s on primary curcuit. Not even a air hose could clear them!
  10. Thanks for your prompt reply Les. I'll try what you suggest when I can recruit a "foot". I'm sure the front brakes are working due to the signs of pad wear and condition of the disc. Regards, Dave
  11. Hi Folks, Bled the brakes on my D1 200tdi yesterday (non-abs)- secondary curcuit front & rear no problem but when I came to bleed the primary curcuit (i.e. top front bleed screws) no fluid came out. Checked both screws were not blocked and am using easy-bleed off tyre pressure.Took it for a road test after and, although brakes ok, if pressure kept on brake pedal it will sink gradually and not hold firm pressure. I suspect the later is due to faulty master cylinder seals but can't understand why I can't bleed primary curcuit.Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi LR Nut, I have a 200tdi and there is never a noise you describe. I suspect there's something wrong with your handbrake shoes or some muck in the drum.
  13. Hi Rich, I have a 1993 200tdi and it always shows half way. I suspect it needs a new thermostat. Are the coolant pipes getting hot or just warm?
  14. I agree. If you've lost all the water then the temp gauge has nothing to register the temperature of & of course you have no warm water for the heater
  15. Any signs of oil dripping out of the bell housing drain hole? I'm thinking of contamination of the lining? Bear
