  1. Hi folks You had me worried there so I’ve re-checked the original instructions and it does say “..no more than 20psi” and that it can be used as low as 10psi. I have had it for a long time so they may have amended the instructions recently so I’ll lower the pressure in future. Cheers for the info.
  2. Hi Everyone, I’ve seen several post on bleeding the brakes/clutch and do not want to start another, however, I have never had a problem using the Gunson Eezebleed. As I’m sure most of you know, fresh brake fluid is forced at 20psi through the system as long as the bleed screw is open. I used it for many years on my old 200tdi but have now “upgraded” to a D2 TD5 which has a different master cylinder cap that does not allow the use of the normal screw type caps. Gunson sell an adaptor for the new type of reservoir and I was wondering if anyone has used it and if it works ok. Regards
  3. Hi Squeezebox, Here's a few links to start with. I'm sure someone else will be along soon with "words of wisdom" www.lrseries.com www.britishparts.co.uk www.island-4x4.co.uk http://stores.ebay.co.uk/DLS-LAND-ROVER-SPARES-UK http://www.mailorder4x4.com/index.html http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/SubCategory--Land-Rover-Discovery-2--m-292 Regards
  4. Have you picked up and melted a plastic bag on the exhaust?
  5. Are you sure it was a GB reg. no.?
  6. Hi Jagwit, For my information (and I'm sure for others too) where do they come out? and how did you clear them? Regards
  7. Hi, Had a quick rough measure of my 04 D2 - your height and width will be ok, but there is only about 80-85 cms in length with the height of your cage with the rear seats in use. The width of the back is about 100 cm (Mine is a 7 seater but I've removed the rear seats to put storage boxes in for the dogs stuff etc) so I'm not sure of the exact measurement of the 5 seater model with the LandRover boxes. Is it possible to put the cage in sideways if it has a side door? Regards
  8. Hi Bushwacker, Sounds very much like it to me. Had a similar thing on my 200 tdi when the fumes were coming out of the dip stick hole. Known fault on the original head gaskets and they are now replaced with ones with thicker walls. Used to go about 60 to 80,000 so you've done well if it's the original. Regards
  9. Good idea Jagwit. I'm following this post for replies. I wonder if you can blow them through with an airline from a compressor without unseating anything? Regards
  10. First winter with my D2, having previously had D1 (200 tdi), and no problems so far Happy Christmas off roading to everyone
  11. Hi, Had a similar problem on my old 200tdi. When I took the door trim off I could see a nylon plunger that operated the locking mechanism was bending instead of staying straight. Gave the whole lot a good spray with WD40 which helped for a while but didn't cure it permenently. Someone may have a fix without buying new lock. Regards.
  12. Hi, Double de-clutching takes the strian of the synchromesh gears hence easier gearchanging. Could this be the problem? ,although I wouldn't have thought it was on all gears. Regards
  13. Hi Rich, I'm new to the TD5 so am still finding my way around it, but is there a way of removing/slackening the fuel line as near the injectors as possible to see if the fuel is getting through? I'm thinking along the lines of some sort of blockage in the line. Regards
  14. Hi, It's interesting that the Haynes manual says "There is no need to prime or bleed the fuel system following filter renewal" Regards
  15. Hi James, Has some work been done on the steering in the past e.g. new ball joint, in which case the steering wheel may not have been centered. If this is the case you'll probably only just need to adjust the length of the steering rod. Regards,

Hi, Had exactly the same problem and as M&S found it was simply a stuck horn button. They are much easier to knock being on the steering wheel than on the indicator stalk like my old 200tdi. Regards, Bear
  17. Hi, Glad you got it fixed Regards Bear
  18. Remove the steering column cowling and check the switch wires. Mine had broken off. Regards
  19. Had the same problem and it turned out simply to be a broken wire on light stalk. Take steering column covers off (you may also have to remove steering wheel) and check for loose/disconected wire/s. Simply re-solder. Regards
  20. Hi Folks, Following advice on another site I checked the power steering pipe that does a "U" turn on the left hand side of the engine block on my 2004 model and found that it is very close to the metal with a danger of it chaffing through over time. It was only protected by some foam tubing. I've now taped some plastic piping around it to protect it further. Secondly, if you have rear parking sensors fitted, have a look behind the small plastic grill inside the rear door on the lefthand side where the control unit and bleeper are. I was amazed that all the wiring rests on sharp metal work which could easily cut through them. Again some plastic piping taped over the metal edage will prevent future problems. Regards, Bear
  21. Hi DiscoHere, According to the Haynes manual "Ensure that the propeller shaft is refitted with the sliding joint towards the front of the vehicle (nearest the front axle)" Regards
  22. If you can get to them, try drilling them out. Even a smaller hole in the middle of the bolt may enable you to collapse it. Regards
  23. Hi MrSwampy, Are the handset batteries ok? Regards
  24. Hi Everyone, Being one who believes in prevention rather than cure, I read on a Disco site that the person raises the air suspension in offroad mode every so often to clean the fold in the airbag to prevent premature wear. I was wondering if anyone would consider that using something like tyre wall dressing would heklp to keep the rubber supple etc. Any thoughts? Regards
