  1. Hey Folks, I have sent two emails off to Heystee to see when they think their conversion kits will be available again. So far I have not had a reply. Is there any other information out there regarding this company being slow to respond or no longer in business?? My series lll project is a bit on hold without front brakes. The Tramp had the earlier Santana PS10 conversion, but the calipers were totally seized and are $$$ to replace, with the discs unobtainable. I would rather the Land Rover Defender caliper kit that they now advertise than contemplate finding all the bits to regress back to the front drum brakes. Thanks, Colin
  2. I have a Roamerdrive on my Series lll. I don't have a lot of experience with it, but the previous owner who installed it was really pleased with it. C
  3. I have to say that the BFG All Terrains (KO's) are my go-to tires. I have them on my Jeep JKU as 285's for summer and 245's for winter. (The 285's are on the summer rims and I have dedicated stock rims for winter). They are rated for snow and do very well in deep stuff- and are civilized on roads in dry and wet. The BFG KM's are NOT a good tire in the snow. I have a set of them on my Defender 110 as 235/85-16's for off road fun. They are all lasting well after 6 years of use with no cracking to be seen.
  4. The Why? is that there is a 300tdi available locally. Parts for Rovers are as scarce in NS as Jeep parts would be in the UK. I have a 3.5L and the LT95 that I am considering putting into my 90. The 90 has a 200tdi +LT77 with a 1.4 transfer case that is going into my 110. I could put the V8 and LT95 into the 90 or take the 2.5 N/A+LT77 and 1.67 that are presently in the 110 and put them in the 90. Just want to not miss an opportunity if the 300tdi might work.
  5. I have a LT95 taken from a 3.5L V8 (both originally from a Stage 1). Will the LT 95 fit onto a 300tdi and go into a Defender 90? Thanks.
  6. Is this enough bling for you? Not trying to sell anything here, just showing an unbelievable ad... https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/land-rover/defender-110/2503510.html?refer=saturday&utm_source=saturday&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2021-07-17
  7. Poster Front BadgesSmall WMFlattened.psd I have been working on a poster that features photographs of various Land Rover front ends and front badging that I have taken. I am looking for feedback and am wondering if there might be any interest. I have yet to work out pricing, shipping, and how to order. The proposed poster would be 22-24" wide and 33-36" tall. Each individual photo would be approx 3.5"x5". Of course the watermark would be gone and the resolution higher on the final image. Colour will be better too. Cheers, Colin Poster Front BadgesSmall WMFlattened copy.tif
  8. I am rebuilding the doors for my series and have taken off the Aluminum skin to deal with the rust. What can I do about the white oxidation on the aluminum? Is there a way to repair the pinholes in the Ali panels where the oxidation has 'rusted' through? Thanks, Colin
  9. I have a Stage 1 parts donor. Is there anything to prevent me from using the halfshafts, 'knuckles' and stub axles from it (and brakes) on the 109? Thanks, C
  10. Working on The Tramp this week and found this little surprise waiting for me. No wonder the wheel wouldn't turn when the hub was locked! The teeth on the inner end of the halfshaft look fine, but I guess I need to have a close inspection of the diff?
  11. Good afternoon. Is there any appreciable difference in the fit and overall quality of replacement parts from either YRM, SP, or Britpart for that matter? I am repairing the bulkhead in a Series 3 and need to replace the footwells and doorposts and foot pieces. Thanks
  12. Good afternoon. Is there any appreciable difference in the fit and overall quality of replacement parts from either YRM, SP, or Britpart for that matter? I am repairing the bulkhead in a Series 3 and need to replace the footwells and doorposts and foot pieces. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Will the truck cap from a Defender fit a late (1982) Series lll?
  14. Thanks for your comments and encouragement. Any pictures of these shortened tubs would be appreciated. I picked up the tub yesterday along with a new tailgate. The 90 needs a new rear cross member. I wonder if a td5 cross member would work and then I could change the fuel tank location and use the tub's filler cut out. Or... replace the rear part of the frame and keep a bit of length to cheat it up to a 100"? Would need a new driveshaft... Cheers C
  15. I have a 1984 Land Rover 90 parts car that could be built into a 90 beach runner. I have a lot of spares and after a rear cross member repair, it looks really do-able. However, I need a rear tub. I can get a 110 tub from a two door relatively cheaply. Has anyone ever cut one down to fit a 90? I have seen the video of Mark Evans fabbing the tub for his 100", and if a 90 tub was available in good shape I would go that way, but a 110 tub is all that seems to be available on this side of the Atlantic. Any thoughts?
  16. Thanks. For the info. I have a 90 parts truck which might be good enough to rebuild. Looking at options.

  18. Will the fenders (wings) and pick up cab from a 1981 V8 fit a 1984 90? Thanks
  19. Alcohol will work for the whiteboard marker. Don't use anything harsh or anything that will abrade the surface or it will be really hard to clean next time. On a positive note, bathroom 'Barker Board" makes a really inexpensive whiteboard that you can laminate onto a piece of plywood if you need something more rigid. I made whiteboards for my classroom this way ages ago before they were common. C
  20. Will an injection pump from a 200tdi Discovery engine work on a 200tdi with the Defender timing chest added (for a Defender)? I have the inlet and exhaust manifolds, and turbo. Thanks
  21. Would a 200tdi turbo from a Discovery fit on a defender manifold? Would assume that there would need to be a bespoke exhaust pipe connected. Are these turbos rebuildable? C
  22. I have to feel sorry for the poor lads that were in my Defender 110 whilst it was at BATUS in Alberta, Canada! It is nowhere close to being winterized. It is LHD. Manual LHD.
  23. What year were rear drum brakes replaced with disc brakes on 90's? Cheers, C
