So it’s -5 here tonight.... clicked the button on the remote..... leaving it 35 minutes to see what the outcome is....❄️❄️❄️

How did it go? Ice on the inside of my windscreen this morning so thoroughly looking forward to the prospect of having some heat!

On a related note, what's everyones thoughts on plumbing the heater output into the lower dash panel to distribute the hot air via the footwell vents? Would it lose too much heat in the process?

  2. When I first bought my TD5 I remember there being a hatch already cut in the rear floor. Had a wee rummage around tonight and it looks as though the PO has replaced the fuel pump in the past and I've now got handy access to it. I've read elsewhere that you can tap into the grey spare nipple in the image here. Anyone know how that works? Do you just cut the end off and attach a fuel hose or do you need a stand pipe of sorts?

Excellent, thanks for the links! Where did you mount the heater unit in the 110?

i have a chinese version of the eberspacer in my van conversion, been fitted for over a year, cant fault it for the price & its certainly kept us warm when we have been away, not the first time its been 28c inside the van

What was the output rating on yours? D2s seem to be 2.2Kw but the chinese ones are usually much higher at 5kw and 8kw. Not sure if there are inefficiences of the system which reduce the realistic output though.

I wouldn’t rule out the Chinese version. I’ve had one for a year and half now and it’s flawless. Get yourself on to the book of faces page for them. There’s lots of info. Replace the fuel lines and clamps that come with it for proper eberspacher ones and it shouldn’t have any problem. They really are great. I just press the remote from the window in the house and in 15 minutes the Landy s roasty. I’ve also left it on all night camping in the Glens of Scotland and it’s amazing. 👍

What was the issue with the fuel lines and clamps? Do you have it hooked up to your fuel tank or the wee 10L tanks they come with? The cost is quite tempting with the chinese ones but i still have my concerns. This one looked quite interesting as well: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ETE-ETMATE-Diesel-Heater-Control/dp/B07YDCVF1X/ref=sr_1_4?crid=37CIGF49G1ZMG&keywords=diesel+heater+12v&qid=1573730498&refinements=p_76%3A419158031&rnid=419157031&rps=1&sprefix=diesel+heater+12%2Caps%2C176&sr=8-4

  5. As the weather gets colder my thoughts are once again turning to diesel cabin heaters to prevent mild hypothermia on my commute to work. Having had a good rummage around i think a second hand unit from fleabay might be the best choice. Too many concerns on here about the £150 chinese heaters and i'd rather not poison myself in the process. My only concern being my electrical skills are, at best, 2/10 so i'm worried i'm either a) not going to buy something with all the correct parts and/or b) be unable to fit it properly to the truck. Any advice for buying 2nd hand?

I'm thinking something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eberspacher-d2-12volt-diesel-heater/233398616874

  6. Not sure if this will benefit anyone but in the end i just filled up the new fuel filter with diesel and she fired up and ran with no issues. I did a bit of research and it turns out there isn't a purge/prime system with the 2.2 engine. Instead you've got to get a dealer to do it, madness! There are a few DIY hand pump instructions going about but i think it's only really for when your system is totally dry. Anyway, all's well and onwards and upwards!

  7. We've got a leaky fuel filter on our work 110 that i'll get changed today. On my own TD5, once i change a fuel filter i've got to purge the system by turning the key to position 2 then pumping the accelerator pedal a few times to start the automated process. Is this the same on the 2.2 or do i have to do something different?

I'm running AT2'S in the same size on my 109 and I've been really happy with them. They tended to get clogged in heavy mud when I went on a play day, but about what you'd expect from an AT. Wet grass, snow, slippery roads, deep puddles at speed and gravel I've had no complaints at all, and they're inaudible under the V8.

Nothing should be allowed to get in the way of a V8 burble! 😀

  9. So i had the truck on a job near Inveraray last week which involved some soaking wet grass, gravel tracks and a bit of heavy mud. The tyres handled it no bother and it's such a nice feeling to be able to confidently enter into a dodgy area knowing there's a good chance i'm going to come back out again. Also had it in a wet field over the weekend and again no issues. It wasn't the toughest of off-roading but certainly challenging enough. I drove about 350 miles on the road to get to Inveraray as well and everything is a lot more refined than the old 265s. Chuffed with my purchase so far. The only problem i had was a knackered UJ after sitting at 60mph for a couple of hours but that's replaced now.

  10. I'm genuinely amazed by the difference in road noise between the 265 mud terrains and 235 ATs. I can (almost) have a conversation with a passenger now which is nice. I've got a day's shooting at the weekend so looking forward to getting them in some mud to see how they handle.

  11. I've heard good things about the AT3s and a lot of folk on here seem to be leaning towards them of the BGFs. I realised over the weekend that i have 16 x 10" modulars on the wagon. How does rim width affect tyre size choices? The 285s fit on there but will 235s work ok or am i better off with 265s?

Edit: Just realised i've been a numpty and i actually have 265/76/16s on mine rather than 285s! Question still stands i guess but are there any sizes in between 235 and 265 that are worth considering?

Double Edit: Also just measured my rims and i have 8" rather than 10". Don't you just love Mondays??

  12. I think one thing is certainly clear - tyre choice is about as subjective as you can get! I had BFGs on the landy when i first bought it but two of the side walls collapsed well before the tread was worn down and that's when i went on to the Cooper STTs. They were fine if not a bit loud and cumbersome at 285 so i'm definitely going for 235s instead.

    Here's what i'm currently thinking: https://www.4x4tyres.co.uk/235-85-16-general-grabber-at3-120-116s_04507000000?specs=24,59,66,

  13. Just found someone else's landy in my work car park with 235/85/16s and i quite like the look of them. It'll save me a couple of ££s as well. Everywhere website i go to says the Goodyear MT/R tyres are exempt from tyre labelling so i can't assess how economical or noisy they are. What's that all about?
