  1. my new to me disco had a cheap pattern donut last march and when the clutch was just done again the donut was allmost gone all the way through (some big splits in that) so new genuine donut fitted and we will see how long this one lasts rob
  2. im my numbers above are lots of town runs of under 3 miles there and back o and work is exactly 1 mile door to door too so that prob dont help either rob
  3. nope roundabouts will wear the nsf tyre on the out side edge as the weight transfer scrubs the tyres over and osf tyre on the inner as the weight drags the tyre across well known problem in mk lol rob
  4. i looked at 1 very late m reg soft dash factory 300tdi that was top money for me (£2800) and was super shiney and mint inside then i crawled underneath and spotted the distinct lack of sills/x member and boot floor said ill pass and it was sold the next day!!! the disco by comparison is very solid underneath bit has a few scabby bits on the outside rob
  5. i would have pref to have had a rrc tdi over a disco if im 100% honest but this disco seemed a good buy (before the clutch went lol) and the lack of very good 300 tdi rrc under 3k left me little option but im starting to like the disco more now i have started to get the little bits sorted rob
  6. 29.11 looks very nice to me after the range rover just a shame it dont sound like the rangie did but then filling that back up with gas after every 150 ish miles (approx 65 litres of gas so 10.4 mpg) used to get boring rob
  7. car is a 98 300 tdi manual disco has been de catted,de egr,d tweaked fuel pump, itg foam panel air filter and brunell uprated intercooler like i said 85 of those miles were pulling my 26 foot 1800 kg caravan too so im well chuffed with that rob
  8. cool thats not bad as 85 of those miles were towing a 26 foot caravan and the rest a mix of round town and a road bombing about with a heavy right foot rob
  9. hi all well i just filled mine back up and it was 476 miles to 74.27 litres so whats does that work out to in mpg? and what maths do you do to work it out? thanks rob
  10. hi all my last disco had a plastic bonnet protector shield thing on (was there when i got it) and i want one for my new disco (300 tdi) any one know where to get one from?? o and a stainless steel a bar too?? rob
  11. my rangie had 265 75 16,s on it on freestyle alloys (same 7j size tho) had 40mm lift with no arch mods (never tried full articulation tho!!) had to trim the lower spoiler and adjust the steering lock stops o and it drove very well like it rob
  12. its a 26 foot twin axle van the van was sitting allmost level (very slight down on the nose) but car with van on was still sitting level it towed awsome just on one really pi55 poor bit of road i felt the back of the car bounced more than i wanted (to be fair it was prob as the van wheels dropped into the pot holes but i still think i want stronger rear shocks for the towing i will be doing with a loaded car and van so what are good towing shocks?? or are new oe then best option?? rob
  13. i dont think its anywhere near 100kg of nose weight the car sits nice and level with the van on its just over a rough potted road section it had a bit of a bounce on it figured some stronger shocks would help damp it down rob
  14. main culprit would be switch does the main beam flash with lights off?? rob
  15. hi all i picked my caravan up yesterday and while it tows ace every now and again on a rough road surface it makes the back end pogo a bit more than i would like so i think my shocks could be better for this job so my question is what are the best shocks for this job?? off road ability is of no importance on this purely load carrying and towing thanks rob
  16. i would use it for this strikes me as thats what its there for rob
  17. should be as it was through my mates garage (he uses them for prob 6k of parts a month so very good discount level) rob
  18. i replaced the wipers on my disco yesterday retail for the 3 was 27 quid with trade card came down to £12 (bosch blades) so still not bad (partco was £10+vat for budget blades) rob
  19. how big are you going??? mine had 265 75 16,s on with only a 40mm lift with no issues rob
  20. thanks for that link chap i allways forget to use google and such like rob
  21. hi all im after some pics of a otherwise standard disco with a roof light bar on it anyone gor one?? also what different a / bull / nudge bars do people have fitted?? thanks rob
  22. i have one too makes a big difference to the price of oils too rob
  23. hi all my disco (98 tdi) has a clunking noise from the nsf window when being raised once its at the top. is this a problem with the motor? (torque sensor failed so dont shut down?) or a tooth missing on the regulator itself? how hard to change? (have done them on many rover cars in the past) thanks rob
  24. welcome chap as said pics are needed rob
  25. it,s a borg and beck clutch they fitted they also replaced the fork/release brg/spigot bush/release brg guide/prop rubber etc etc clutch fluid level is spot on when pedal is pressed there is a lot of squeaking in side the bell housing so im guessing the fork or cover plate is at fault double bugger rob
