  1. well given these responses looks like ill be keeping the disco then (unless a nice p38 or 110 comes along for good money that is) rob
  2. im sure (well ok hope) its worth more than that old n reg ones on flea bay are fetching 1300 with 150k on the clock that said if i keep the disco i wont be upset i just prefer range rovers (in fact the classic with a 300tdi and auto would be my first choice) rob
  3. hi all i have my 98 disco 300 tdi manual and very nice it is too but........... i miss my range rovers so im thinking of chopping this in against either a rrc 300 tdi auto (would have to be minty tho) or a p38. my question is is this wise? i need a good reilable car (yes i have heard the horror stories but can they really be THAT bad??) p38 diesel auto (lots of towing so auto is defo preferred) would i be best to just say sod it and keep the disco (having spent over 1300 on it in the last 2 months with clutch/tyres/servicing) and its a good one or will going back to range rovers be the way forward?? and what would my disco be worth against a p38?? (99k with fsh es premium 7 seat with rear air con etc etc) thanks rob
  4. yes they are the same (ish) as a pajero suspension wise (independant front double wishbone with torsion beams and rear beam axle on cart springs) they drive poor are not great on fuel either rot like a disco quite poo really but if its very cheap for a toy would prob be ok i would rather have a old hilux myself tho rob
  5. you never will either as its a v8 sorry couldnt resist rob coats on ready!!!!
  6. and another (this is a mid size one that i used to build) rob
  7. then you should look up the proper cummins engine that i used to build !!!! (laid off friday tho ) v18 91 litre 16000lb ft torque and 8000hp + slightly larger than a lr but wicked none the less rob
  8. you have seen those cummins powered pick ups on you tube then ???? wow they must be really well tuned lololol rob
  9. was a mildly tweaked 3.9 rrc auto im starting to think mine is ok tbh as i was behind a disco the other day up a hill and he was going down into 3rd (could see him shifting down through the back window) while i was still in 4th and trailing the throttle and his smoked much worse than mine so im now going to ignore it lol will concetrate on getting the poly bush kit on it and seeing if i can make it handle as well as the rrc!!! out of interest what tweeks do you have on yours?? rob
  10. see mine goes ok ish ( i think) but seems to smoke more than i think it should (only had it 3 weeks tho) esp when laboring on a hill etc has been de egr,d and de catted had pump tweaked with uprated intercooler and a itg panel air filter has just had a major service inc cambelt (air filter blown out but will throw a normal paper element in it too eliminate that as poss blocked a little??) the guy who serviced it runs a 200 tdi rrc auto and thinks that my disco is very quick but im comparing it to my old rrc v8 so maybe im expecting too much performance wise???? rob ps sorry python for the hijack
  11. hi what symptoms does a failed lift pump give??? thanks rob
  12. well now im redundant i should have plenty of time for polishing lol clay bars work well then do they? rob
  13. mine feels like sand paper in places and i want some one else to do it as if i do it my self i will never be happy with it (if that makes sense lol) rob
  14. hi all my recently purchased disco is in very good cond but i want it better (and before any one starts laughing at the back yes i know its a land rover but that dont mean it cant be clean ) there are quite a few light scratches etc on the paint and i want it buffed back to a spot on finish hand polishing has made it shiney but there are still more marks on it than i would like so anyone on here able to recommend either a mobile one or local ish place that will do a proper job on it? i had a local garage valeter buff my last car with a mop and he burned the paint so defo want better than that doing lol rob ps if and one on here wants the job pm me and we can sort it
  15. no play at all in any bearings i dont think there is anything wrong as such with my brakes they just aint brilliant lol rob
  16. i dont want a soft pedal mine is ok as it is and the brakes do work ok just not as well as the range rover ones did (i allways thought they were very good on that miles better than any rrc/disco i have had before) think i will put new braided hoses on it and new fluid see if that helps firm the pedal up a bit ?? rob
  17. hi all my 98 300tdi manual has only got solid discs all round and the brakes are defo not as good as they were on my rrc auto is changing the fronts to vented discs/calipers a worthwile mod? what else would i need to change other than the discs/pads/calipers?? i am planning on doing a fair bit of towing with this car too rob
  18. my speedo is out by 3mph at 60 so not too bad (5% is ok by me) according to my garmin but at least i now have a base to monitor the car from to see if any dramatic fuel increase happens was more just curious really as i allways work mileage out per tank rob
  19. do the performace exhausts paddocks do (the one with no centre box) make a difference? does it up the noise a lot? cant make it too loud as the dog is in the boot a lot im after more towing oomph when the van is on it but dont wont to lower the gearing so wont be swapping t/boxes rob
  20. hi all my disco has all ready got a few minor engine mods on it (tweaked pump/brunell intercooler/itg foam panel filter/de catted front pipe and de egr,d) and im trying to justify to my self that these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=150327975210 will be a worthwhile purchase aside from looking nice will they actually gain me anything else?? if not what else can i do to it to try and up the go a bit more (budget of £300 ish only tho) thanks rob
