In which case you are almost definitely bottoming out your dampers as I doubt the +2" bumpstop is enough at full articulation. As for rear mount dampers they only move with the arc on down travel as they move up they are being pulled off the axle thus less effective and more likely to damage.

I would suggest your dampers are bottoming out all ready if you run +2" dampers you should lift your mounts by 1" thus giving you 1" of extra travel down and the lifted mount stops it bottoming out. As to position ideal they want to be on top of the axle but you have a spring there, you can put the damper inside the spring but this may fowl on full travel by moving the dampers behind the axle you are reducing the effectiveness.

Yes you will need to change the v5 if the chassis hasn't been altered in any way and you have enough points you should get away with a Vic and change the log book but keep the registration. If not then it's iva then Vic then log book change and a different registration.

I'll not put the full chassis number but mine is number 87and it's a 7R so one of the last richardo built. I'm hopeing to have mine on the road next year. Have you got a build thread or some pictures.

I've had a Makita drill for 20years used daily at work granted it's had numerous batterys but still works the way it sould. I've just replaced it with another Makita and am impressed so far. I would like to say nearly every boat yard on the southcoast uses Makita drills. Nuff said.

I'm saying nothing :-XIf only you put that much effort into finishing off the 109!!!!!!Mike

Inverted anti roll bar mine was jammed against the spring seat causing rear steering.

The drop box and shafts clear a standard 200tdi exhaust on a 110 and I can't see why a 90 would be any different retro fit 200tdi or not. I can't help with the front bracket either as I made my own although there is a fairy pto winch on eBay with fairly good pictures.

If you know where to look you can get lewmar hatches with knackered perspex in fact we may have one at work.

And people wonder why IVA exists.

Trust me they can still spin.Mike - you need better rivnuts & the air-powered rivnut tool.Mike

Right up until they start to spin. (add your own expletive here)Rivnuts are fantastic.Mike

If it's steel galvanize it then paint it. The only trouble with buying someone else's rebuild they always bodge something you wouldn't.

Just to add something I learned recently this system would have trouble with modern car diesels as to name one. Mazda use a system that injects something can't remember what into the exhaust if an exact set of conditions exist but if they change at the point it wants to inject it gets dumped into the sump. Therefore Mazda have low, high and change on the dip stick this to me is proof that emissions are far higher up the list and this system actually knackers the oil on purpose. Not sure I made sence but I know what I mean.

I don't think anyone is saying don't do it but as you can see most assume rightly or wrongly you need the charity to help fund it. If you can find a way of making it clear your intentions you may be in with a shot perhaps take a sufferer with you I don't know but you need an angle to "sell" it to them.

I agree if you want to do the trip great just do it lot's of help on here. If you want to help a charity great but you pay for your trip and any sponsorship goes straight to the charity if you go to a charity with this attitude you'll probably get further in discussion. Having said that doing something a little more unusual may help. Don't get me wrong I love the idea, wish you all the best and will help where I can.

Great to see progress Mike.
Is the main structure different for the station wagon? or is the rear roof/body an extra bolt-on unit?
I'm building it from scratch using the original rear tub as a base. I'm changing the front end of the tub to become integral to the body the producing a new frame to hang a roof and side panels to.
Mike
-
Finally I've managed some forward progress the 110 has gone so I've ordered some additional bits from foers. I folded a roof panel up by hand and have fitted it.
The seat box has been removed from the front as I'm using freelander seats and need a different floor shape this has been canabilised and relocated for the second row seats. The floors are carbon fibre sheet with the new seat box mounted on top due to the use of freelander seats the seat mounts are also seatbelt mounts so these are quite substantial. The seat folds forward then forward again to give access to the winch and the batterys will be under here to.
I'm now making a start on alterations to the rear tub as I'm converting from crew cab to a station wagon.

I think you can only compare them as per out of the factory and everybody knows it's gwagon and defenders but zuk's and landcruisers are so close behind there's not a lot in it.

Actually you can only tell between 10 and 24 spline by pulling a half shaft . Don't forget there are metric and imperial 10 spline shafts most range rover and early disco are imperial though the diffs are inter changeable. The metric shafts have a much flatter head.
Mike
-
Late 200tdi disco are 24 spline they change mid k reg.

My disco/tomcat used to do a wheel bearing every couple of months however my 110 I never did one in 40,000 miles I don't do anything different now so don't know why one lasted and the other didn't.

Sorry now I understand can you just weld a bar from the mounts front edge to the axle tube to act as a slider.
