  1. The Defender life mystery One of life’s paranormal mysteries is HOW???........How the simplest of jobs on a Defender can turn into the most complicated and time consuming enigma that even the most accomplished physicist would struggle to resolve or complete!?!.....How such a simple job involves the total dismantling of the Defender just in order to gain access to ONE lousy NUT???....How the simple job means when you first accepted the challenge you were under the influence of substances’???.....How the simple job on a Defender is a DELUSIONAL THEORY!!!......How a 5min simple job such as emptying the ash tray means you have to remove the rear door, disconnect the middle section of the exhaust and loosen the alternator, not forgetting that every one of these will incorporate seized, rusty rounded off nuts and bolts and take the best part of 10 or so hours!?!?!?! YET, a job that logic would dictate is going to be a mare due to location, age and known knowledge of seized, rusty rounded off nuts and bolts!!! A job that suggests time is irrelevant as it is beyond comprehension!!!.... A job that will require loved ones to make contact with emergency services!!!.... A job that the mere thought of reduces any sane person to a blubbering wreck!!!.... But miraculously this job takes LESS TIME than it take to empty the ash tray!?!?!?! But time and time again we revisit this phenomena, in the hope of Debunking this MYTH, to NO avail!!!
  2. Sadly my memory doesn't last 5mins. let alone a YEAR!?! But I think the seal fits just passed the front rim about 1-2mm...……. Have you remembered to fit the FELT WASHER?????
  3. Not wishing to highjack this thread as it is in danger of changing topic!?! Britpart DO supply SOME extremely good quality and OE parts at affordable prices!...….. Sadly these ARE few and far between, and as Snagger points out the majority is not worth considering! Unfortunately for us there is NO way of telling before we buy which is the GOOD, BAD and the UGLY!?!......It is usually comes down to word of mouth due to someone else's experience with buying Britpart parts whether it be for reasons of affordability or availability to inform us if it is fit for purpose or not!?! Thus at times it is a mere guessing game with Britpart and a game if you choose to play, that CAN become costly in time and money!
  4. To be honest that colour bag for the wiper spindles aren't bad and personally i have had more problems with Bearmach items regarding wipers, arms and spindles!?! Just my experience though.
  5. These are NOT evenly protruding and will likely be the cause???...…….Lift the slide bar and push or pull one of the rails, I would guess x1 notch/click until they are the same length of protrusion.
  6. Looking at the 1st. Photo the seat rails are uneven by one notch!?! Lift the rail sliding bar and pull one or push one rail until they are the same length.
  7. Might sound stupid but as theold one is firm and does not move, but new one move freely!?! Have you TIGHTENED up the Grub screw in the wiper arm???
  8. Why would you go to a FISH SHOP for Land Rover parts!?! 😳😂
  9. Yes Ed Poore but WHAT YEAR IS IT????? 🤣🤣
  10. Cheers guys and thanks DC decided to get them from Island 4x4 Delphi AP at £120 each and that includes VAT so 240 which seems to be about right for none Chinese Cheese!?!
  11. Thanks guys..... looks like SEB500440 and SEB500450 are the part numbers then!?! Well these have always had solid discs on from when i got it back in 2009 so guess that's how it pretty much started out, but can't be 100% sure!?! Ralph if i could guarantee that the Britpart ones were AP i would happily go that route for the price, but as an unknown item i think i would rather go where they state the manufacturer.
  12. Can someone tell what the part numbers are for the front brake calipers on a 300Tdi 90 (1995) with solid discs please? There seems to be a lot of conflicting info for years from and to plus a multitude of part numbers!?! I think they are SEB500440 and SEB500450 ???? Plus anyone reccomend a good reasonable brand, again i was thinking Delphi? Cheers Andy
  13. I am after the part / part number for the Toe Box Insulation for a Defender 300Tdi RH side, The piece of foam backed rubber that comes down from the bottom of the dash and has the cut outs for the pedals and bonnet cable..... I can't find any info for this regarding part number, name of said part or any stock photos! so any info to point me in any direction would be of help Cheers Andy
  14. Is it me!?!.....I would have thought the ANSWER to this was staring you in the face!?!?!?! Make use of what you have and at no extra cost!!! 🤣🤣
  15. @Sigi_H .......Thanks for the pics and GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND to show the difference! I really appreciate you taking your Slave Cylinder OFF and taking it to BITS! very impressive!!! Joking aside GREATLY appreciate the side by side photos......But however this does not resolve the DELPHI code issue of whether the DELPHI Code LL15965 relates to LR Part No. 591231 or the FTC5072 Which is what I am trying to find out, At least you guys have answered that there IS difference in the actual LR Parts of 591231 and FTC5072..... so definitely need the FTC5072 version of this! Just annoying to think i could save 20 quid for the sake of knowing!?! Oh such is life
  16. That answers the difference on the LR parts cheers Red90 So just need to know if a Delphi LL15965 is for early or late and this seems to be the hard bit as it comes up both depending where you look!?! But for the sake of £20 difference I'd like to know
  17. The main reason for knowing for definite, is i can get a Delphi LL15965 for a 1/3 the price of a LR part No. FTC5072 (Delphi manufactured)
  18. I can't seem to be able to get a definitive answer to this by searching the internet!?! Some well known LR Parts suppliers that stock the Delphi Slave Cylinders, quote the LR part No. then state that it is a Delphi LL15965........Some places state it is a LR No 591231 others say it's a LR part No. FTC5072???? They do look pretty similar, but if it's the thread size that is altered then that would explain a not so visible difference! But NOT how differing places can sell a Delphi LL15965 as either LR part depending where you go?
  19. This is for a 300Tdi.....Slave Clutch Cylinder Part No.FTC5072 (Delphi code LL15965) But this Delphi code also fits LR Part No.591231 and this states it's for Vins upto LA....... BUT ARE THEY THE SAME???? Just seems odd Delphi have coded both LR parts FTC5072 and 591231 with their same code LL15965
  20. Well we went out today to have a serious talk with the Green Menace, as I felt the situation had become impossible to live with due to its selfish and unforgiving nature!?! Knowing how stubborn and bloody minded it can be, I went armed with Flame Thrower, a lump of metal attached to a stick, a strange looking object with a multitude of purposes and has the ability to make me laugh and cry at any given moment!?! This has to be my favourite stress relief aide, even named it “Lumpy” on the account if it gets angry it can cause LUMPS to inexplicably form on your body! I also took a few sharp pointy things too....... Needles to say things got VERY heated early on and I am ashamed to say Lumpy got extremely aggressive, I could barely contain his rage, I’d never seen him like this!?! Sadly some of the pointy things got in the way and succumbed to Lumpys temper!...... This debate seemed to go on for hours, things getting heated then the cooling off period and the occasional interjection of attitude from Lumpy along with the odd prod of a pointy thing! It went on for so LONG we even stopped the discussion to have a coffee and re examine our approach on the subject? But though little progress seemed to have been made, me and Lumpy decided this WAS the best way to proceed if only for the feel good factor!?! The Green Menace was pretty adamant that things were to stay as they are whilst Lumpy and I tried to explain “Change is for the best!” But the Green Menace wouldn’t budge on the subject no matter how hard we tried to reason with it and believe me we tried even resorting to underhand and dirty tactics, Water Boarding with buckets of WD. The stubborn S.O.B stood firm and wouldn’t be persuaded! Then eventually when me, Lumpy and the few remaining pointy thing were totally exhausted, burnt out, spent and we were all leaning on the ropes holding each other, Lumpy slid to the ground and I clutched at several knuckles and a thumb that Lumpy had kindly kissed during the exchanges, I could see the shattered remains of the pointy things and even for a hardened VET that has done several tours of duty round Tescos and Lidl at peak times!?! I felt a tear roll down my cheek when the Ref (the WIFE) called time! But I hadn’t survived this long in the LR world without picking up a few sneaky tricks!?! So with the Refs back turned I snook in for a final blow for all LR owners AND my sanity!!! Several sharp jabs and a well placed pointy thing, IT happened ........I heard that FATAL crack!!!.......I had finally managed to get the upper hand and got the Green Menace to buckle and see sense!?! The Ref wasn’t best pleased as I had failed to listen to her instructions and was deducting points for a late low blow! But me and Lumpy didn’t care, we just collapsed to the ground and cried like little girls holding each other!!! Well all the score cards are in and it’s a unanimous decision from all 3 judges at ring side!!! We have a WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!.............. And it AINT Me and Lumpy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT’S THE WIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!........................ Me and Lumpy got disqualified and aren’t allowed to work on the LR for the next 2 weeks!?! Just about the time the smile will be starting to fade from my face. Thanks for all the help and advice guys.....Cheers all, Andy
  21. I would check all connectors relevant to the light, seperate them and clean up scuff up a bit as they can suffer dry corrosion. If the indicators are working then i would guess its only a problem from the junction where they come together back to the dash light, so this should narrow the path to check??? Or you could hold out for a grown up to come along and put their finger on the problem??? Cheers Andy
  22. Yep seen pretty much every technique used on YouTube!.....Never quite convinced to actually how successful they are??? So always take them with a pinch to a sack of salt! It HAS been blocked off, not too sure how but before i took possession. As i said it's my personal mission to get the pig ugly eyesore off and put on a single hose without the spur off to the EGR Valve.
  23. @Tanuki That's what's making me kack my knickers!?!.... Shearing/snapping the bolt as there is little room to get a drill in place, plus as this is my daily ride don't really want to be without out it too long! Got some map gas so will fire up the blowtorch tomorrow and pester the #@%€ out of it with the adjustable spanner, and the douse with some WD or gun oil spray i have. Let the GAMES BEGIN!!!!! Tune in the same time tomorrow folks for an update!?!
  24. Would it be worth jacking the front end up and rotating a front wheel whilst in gear just to make sure things are turning inside? Just a thought
  25. Cheers guys..... Gunna try all the above.....Well ALL except the sledgehammer bit!?! But can i give it a fair old smack with a hammer then???
