  1. I'm tempted! Was there any draw backs at all with changing to the non EDC. Anything not quite right at all? Was the ECU OK with it? What happened to the EDC control unit? Does the cruise control still work? Did you need any brackets for the throttle cable? Does the kickdown still work? Any problems with immobiliser / alarm system? When you did have the problem as we experience did you look into it at all? Did you find anything out or narrow it down? Cheers mate
  2. I'd be interested to see any responses to this as I have exactly the same thing happening with mine. I've only owned my disco for 2 months and it's happened about 5-10 times and only really in the last few weeks. I haven't seen it as a major problem as a slight movement of my foot and it's fine but it did have me slightly worried. My initial thought was the tps, my logic was the fact that it seems to happen when the throttle is in the position where it is the most often, so maybe it gets worn at that position?? I've not had chance to look at it yet and I can't make it happen, it just happens very occasionally. Most of the time when it has happened has been when I have been in stop start situations just going slowly. Thanks though for the info that the TPS didn't fix it - as that saves me splashing out £320 to find it still does it! Forgot to mention mines a 95 Disco Auto EDC with 104000 miles on the clock
  3. does that mean disco alloys fit a series as well?
  4. I fancied something a bit wider than the 7.50x16's, the 235's sound big enough at 1.75" Wider. I have however got a set of discovery steels in a pile in my garage - will these fit straight on and if so how wide can I go on these?
  5. My Off road vehicle is my series 2a Land Rover, my on Road Vehicle is a 300tdi Disco, I wouldn't be able to solely rely on either, my off road vehicle is my backup vehicle for the disco and my Disco is standard. I definatley wouldn't rely on a modded disco - especially after flooding the engine with water As said above get something cheap as a backup, infact get a series as a backup, tax exempt, very low insurance and it's got character. Then you've got to be pretty unlucky to get both off the road at once!
  6. sorry didn't mean to be mean! They're just the only pics of you! At the time when you went sideways on the hill we'd just driven straight up there and just come back round, so at the time we found it funny when you got stuck From the look of it you put too much power down as you strarted off straight as you headed for the hill, but when your wheel dropped in the first rut you kicked up a load of muck and then started to spin sideways. I've got a few more pics but nothing brilliant to be honest, We were in a black short wheel base series land rover with a snorkel:
  7. I thought it was you! So this would be you here... being pulled out of the water, then getting stuck on the hill
  8. Any chance of a pic of them on the vehicle, did the 285's fit OK? are they on standard rims?
  9. Yes it must have rust, if the rust is missing then it's not genuine
  10. I wasn't trying to be funny, just trying to be helpful as he didn't seem to have come back with a reply. Sorry if it sounded sarcastic or anything
  11. Are you after diesel or petrol? Manual or Auto Check out autotrader for prices and what you should get, also check out wisebuyers.co.uk for valuations. £3000 should get you a very good condition 300tdi, try and get an ES if possible as you get full leather, twin electric sunroofs etc. There is plenty about at the moment so you should be able to haggle. I don't think you'll quite get a td5 for that money. Check out the boot floor before purchase (lift carpet and rubber mat)
  12. They used both the bosch and the lucas on the pugs, I'm sure it says on the pump, I've just managed to get rid of my second peugeot I've ever owned both were diesels, I have now vowed never to own any French car ever again - I've now got two much more reliable Land Rovers
  13. Was that up at Caverswall? Were you in a Red Disco?
  14. Is there anywhere else to get the grizzly claws from, I know Bronco does them in Leek (which is handy as it's only 5 miles away) but they're £320 which is a bit more than I wanted to spend. Do they often come up second hand?
  15. Ah great, hopefully you didn't see me doing anything stupid - or my mate crashing at the end and bending my front bumper!! Have you got any pics of the 2 door range rover or the red 90 to see if they jog any memories? It was good fun at the quarry, haven't been since last October, but I'd just recently bought a disco and joined a couple of lr forums to find a few things out, and reading the other off roading threads got me wanting to go again! We were with another series, the green lwb pickup. I'll have a look for some of those tyres - do they fit straight on the current rims?
  16. pugs had rotary pumps until about 1999
  17. I spent yesterday driving the series round the local quarry at one of the 4x4 fun days. It was great fun and the series again proved itself to be very capable, however this time the ground was quite muddy and wet and I was getting quite a lot of wheel spin. When we stopped for a burger I noticed that the tread on the back wheels was clean, but the front wheels looked like slicks as the mud had filled the tread completely. On closer inspection the front tyres don't look as good as the rears, the tread isn't as deep and the pattern doesn't look as good, the fronts are Avon Rangemaster (or something like that) the backs were something different but I can't remember what now. The attached picture should so the sort of tread on them. The tyres are 7.50R16's on LWB offset Rims, So my question is (without spending a fortune) what would be best to put on it, I would prefer to keep the rims the same, I don't mind adding arches if wider wheels are required and I'm not too fussed about losing turning circle. I would like something which looks beefy and I guess an extra bit of height wouldn't help with ground clearance etc. Any suggestions
  18. I think it was just the autos which had drive by wire
  19. To be honest I can't see the pipe I'm after there! There is a pipe in the same place but it looks different. This is the one I'm after: It starts there and runs under the reservoir at the front. Does yours look like that?
  20. As I said above it's dead easy to get it working
  21. I wired mine up and it seems to work OK. Those two wires are the ones for the sub, initially I thought one would be the signal and one would be the ground but it appears that they are actually two seperate speaker signal wires, so I just wired each one to the centre pin of a couple of phono plugs and plugged them in, I unplugged the speakers to test and just got some base type sound coming from the rear, so happy at that I reconnected the speakers and it's been like that since - don't really notice it much though - although there is a slight improvement. I think technically you should connect the other part of the phono plug to ground, but it works without. I chopped the plug off to make it easier.
