  1. A quick flick through ebay for 110 roofrack and similar ones seem to be around the £150-£200 mark. It looks pretty heavy duty tho so depending on what it weighs it might be worth that in scrap
  2. Yep it would all have to be hard to get to. I figured the wiring to the switch would be easily hidden in the tangled mess already present! From what i've read/heard if someone wants to steal it they probably will, its just about making it harder and less attractive to the casual thief! If someone fights their way through the clutch claw and they then have to figure out why its not starting hopefully they would just give up
  3. With security now very firmly on my mind (http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=82188) I've been looking at adding security to my 109 soft top. I've bought a Clutch claw as it seems to fit my vehicle/needs the best of the obvious visible options but I want to add some hidden stuff as well. A battery disconnect switch seems like a good idea but it needs to be hidden if its going to be effective, I dont want to be scrabbling about to get to the hidden switch. The idea of a hidden push button in the dash to operate a disconnect switch does sound good but has anyone tried it and does it work? My main worry would be the solenoid handling the starting amps. This kit looks like it would do the job quite well http://www.streetrodhq.com/detail/19945/AntiTheft_Shutoff_Battery_Disconnect_Magtech.html The wiring seems simple enough http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Yql&sa=X&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=rcs&biw=1067&bih=506&tbm=isch&tbnid=-DhrLR907CZhRM:&imgrefurl=http://www.texasindustrialelectric.com/relays_24200.asp&docid=sQl7w7cq_q6CTM&imgurl=http://www.texasindustrialelectric.com/images/24200_drawing_lg.gif&w=700&h=500&ei=Jlw6UZCrKMuv7AaF4oCoCw&zoom=1&ved=1t:3588,r:1,s:0,i:83&iact=rc&dur=2289&page=1&tbnh=180&tbnw=253&start=0&ndsp=10&tx=116&ty=86 What do people think?
  4. Are these going to be available again? I've noticed they've disappeared from the shop and I was hoping to get one. Cheers
  5. It turned out to be a thin layer of corrosion on the earth contact. It looked clean but with a continuity tester on it it clearly wasn't. A quick clean and it all seems to be working fine. How easy is it to swap these crappy lights for something better? Defender sealed units?
  6. It seems it was used in an attempted robbery in wiltshire this morning. Its been found burnt out and is being recovered. Utter person I'm not that keen on.
  7. Funnily enough I got in this morning and the rear rh has stopped working but the front is flashing extra rapid. Will try the many suggestions above tonight anyaway
  8. I will stick a picture on at lunchtime. Reg is P89CNU No sign writing. Its a 300tdi
  9. Overnight our works 130 has been stolen from my brothers driveway in sway in the new forest. Its got a white cab and brand new tipping back body. 300tdi. The back body is ali with a locker full width at the front end. Its a bespoke back body made by solent coach builders. Please let us know if anyone sees it Cheers
  10. I've got a defender one (like the ebay link above) in my soft top S3. I made a bracket out of a sheet of ali and bolted it to the windscreen through the rear view mirror holes. I will try and get a picture up later.
  11. Cheers I will try that tomorrow. Spent another hour this evening going round all the wires to see if there was anything obvious. Starting to get a bit worried that I'm going to have to start stripping the tape off the loom to sort this out, or worse have to replace the moulded plastic plugs. Not overly happy at present as the loom is an Autosparks one i bought last year.
  12. Cheers for the reply. Checked it all just now and cannot find any breaks (the loom is only a year old so I would have been upset). With the RH indicators on I get the warning light lit up and get about 8.5V at all points I can test along the wiring, including at the bulbs. LH indicators work. So is it the flasher unit just not liking the RH indicators for some reason?
  13. For some reason this evening my RH indicators have stopped working. All I get is the warning light on the dash constantly on. LH indicators work fine. I'm thinking it might just be a connection come loose but wondered if anyone has had similar and knows what the problem is before I spend hours taking apart and chasing round the loom Cheers
  14. Cheers for the replies. Its only for pony paddocks in hampshire so its not massively strenuous. Its amazing how much muck they generate and if it can be spread rather than removed it seems like the better option
  15. We're thinking of trying to find a pto for the 88 to run a few bits of kit, one of which being a muck spreader (if we can get one) Has anyone got any experience of using either a pto and/or muck spreader with a landy and got any advice on how well they work, if theyre worth it and where to get them? Cheers
  16. I don't know if this is the right place for this sort of thing but thought others might like to know about cool/useful stuff (maybe even have a sub forum?). Bought a Jetboil 'Zip' the other day and took it to work for the first time today. Cracking bit of kit. The whole thing including gas canister stand etc packs up to about the size of a pint glass (bit bigger dia). It all goes together easily and within 3 minutes (they state 2.5) you have enough hot water for two cups of tea. So much better than taking a flask (cos its actually hot water) and a lot smaller and neater than the kelly kettle we have been using (not to mention less smokey when you're trying to light it). Its absolutely ideal for us at work being able to make a drink out in a field etc and as its so quick and small its ok in public spaces and saves buying drinks. I was actually upset this afternoon when one of our customers was in and made us tea instead of having to make it ourselves
  17. I always thought landrover made things to keep water out that kept water in, and things to keep water in that let water out..... Not sure I've got a worst day but finding out my engine was fubar'ed is up there. That led to 200tdi, complete strip down, New bulkhead etc......
  18. Ouch. And I thought I had a bad moment today when I locked up a wheel behind someone after driving through a ford.... Maybe some drain holes at the bottom of the drums would be a good idea
  19. There's plenty of material about on swapping in a 200tdi. I think one of the most helpful is http://www.glencoyne.co.uk/ As for the tipper we're just having a new one fitted to the 130 we use for work (gardening, tree surgery etc). Its being done by a company near portsmouth. Pretty reasonable on price and happy to build it to your exact spec.
  20. On the plus side you could do wheelies with a decent load in the back!
  21. From reading elsewhere I think they started charging after lots of various car owners clubs applied for vehicle histories. Everything takes time and time cost money so I guess they need to charge for someone to find the info. I agree the numbers could be online for a search, and you can do that if you go in to the centre. I think a search may well be £5 but if you want a letter of proof its more
  22. I've had a good look at it and its EK. The E is badly stamped/worn and only looks like an E if you are looking at it as an E! It all ties in with the chassis number and build date of 03/12/63. Now its a case of trying to get age related plates from the DVLA, and maybe have a look into the vehicle military history
