  1. At least it will be easy to find in the car park at shows LOL
  2. I had seen that solution elsewhere (though the LRO poster explains it very well) but was looking for a cheap plug and play cure which is why I went the Matchless Clueless route. I think that Bolt on Bits and other suppliers of the LED kits should really put something in the kit to explain the indicator problem instead of leaving their customers to reasearch themselves. (that's probably how they manage to get such a high price for their solution)
  3. Where did you attach chains at the front Mike?
  4. Ralph, I read your swap thread it was really interesting thanks for putting it up, did you use 4 x 2 timbers or did you have something more robust? Mark
  5. Thanks for this Mike, hope your rebuild goes well, have you lifted your body off? M
  6. Update on this. The item took a while to arrive, I didn't realise that the motorcycle club concerned is not UK based! However when It did arrive it was simple to fit and has worked faultlessly since. While waiting for it to arrive I simply removed the bulb from the warning light. I am not sure what Bolt on bits provide but all that is required is a couple of diodes and some connectors so I have no idea how BOB justify the price. M
  7. HI I am on the verge of ordering a galv chassis to go under my Defender. My plan is to rent some space with a lift so that the body comes off in one piece and straight back on the new rolling chassis. As it will cost me money if the job is held up at any point I thought I would ask if anyone has done this and can recommend what other parts I'm likely to need to have to hand to change during the process. Thanks Mark
  8. This seems to be the way with almost anything Defender at present, I swapped my 110 roof recently and left the old one leant up in the yard (I was going to move it honest), the predictable happened and it fell over and smashed the sunroof. I thought that it must be scrap but her indoors stuck it on facebook and sold it in minutes.
  9. Sorry reb http://matchlessclueless.com/store/led-indicators/led-indicator-diode/#tab-description is a better link M
  10. Resurrection of an old topic I know, but I have just done the bolt on bits LED upgrade and have the same issue, as Crofter says it would be helpful if they put some info about this in the kit. I rang them and they said "oh yes we know all about it and sell a kit to fix it". However their kit is £15 (plus delivery no doubt) which I thought expensive for what is probably a bulb holder, an led bulb and two diodes. Shopping around revealed this on a motorcycle site http://matchlessclueless.com/store/led-indicators/led-indicator-diode/#tab-reviews Now ordered and I will review once fitted.
  11. Hi, I am about to swap the roof on my 110 CSW (1991). Does anybody have part numbers for the seals please. Thanks M.
  12. I did the swap on my 200tdi 2 years ago and I agree with Neil, the more you can do to the new one beforehand the better, including making sure all threads are re tapped. Resist the temptation to get too many helpers when you are removing the old one, when they leave you will be left guessing what they took from where. I did mine on the vehicle and realistically the bulkhead was removed and replaced in a weekend and then it took 5 afternoons / evenings to get everything refitted and do the re wiring for aux lights etc. There were no real issues with getting the replacement to fit.
  13. Thanks Snagger, I'm told that on a Defender they are only accessible with the box off, guess I will need to look less any body with a 200tdi Defender knows for a fact? Sounds simple, what can go wrong LOL
  14. Thanks Ralph, Do you know if the procedure to remove the oil pump is detailed somewhere?
  15. Thanks for this Snagger, don't the rear bolts need the gearbox to be dropped before they are accessible?
  16. Thanks I appreciate the replies. I agree that the crank bearings are a likely cause, but as I have a spare engine to be rebuilt I'm just looking for some improvement in oil pressure to keep this one going without having to remove the ladder. Does any one know if the procedure for an 'in situ' oil pump change detailed some where? thanks again Mark
  17. Apologies if this is covered else where but I have searched to no avail. My 200 tdi has poor oil pressure and I have a spare engine to be rebuilt as cash allows. In the mean time I thought it might be an idea to invest £50 in an oil pump. Question is can I fit the pump by just removing the sump with the engine in situ or does the ladder have to come off? Thanks
  18. Had a fantastic time in North Wales, most people were really friendly, found some awesome roads in Snowdonia and plenty of wild camping, will definitely be back!
  19. Thanks Bud, Had planned to stick to coastal areas and move around, let you know how get on!
  20. Thanks for this Paul, various forums report that wild camping is possible on the island, is this true?
  21. Hi I am planning a last minute trip to Anglesey for a week, any suggestions for green laning in the area, bearing in mind that we will be in a 110s with loaded roof racks Thanks Mark
  22. I am taking a club group to the Alps last week in August first in September, what is the weather likely to be like, cold at night? Thanks Mark
