  2. and, what the Aussie safari the year after
  3. Show off , anyway looks good Jules Ali
  4. Mmm considering most Aussie sporn from crims they argue till the cows come home about what you and what you can't legally do to your car. When I bought my 90 in Aus .The so called experts on the forums said I could not do it because of all the stuff o had on the car was not ADR .but when It came to be tested, it passed with no problem ,and they did not even look at those item the forum experts said woudl be illegal in Aus
  5. Nah you can have lights above the windscreen in Aus .I don't have them but loads of mates do Ali
  6. Yeah you are right we are very lucky to have this all on our door step, and belive me i intend to use it over the years . And to have the fact that 4x4 are seen as a way to get from A to B and you have to be nuts to go outback without A bull bar. Both my defenders have ARB bull Bars. You have to have somnthing for those roos to bounch off. There are loads of people here makeing and selling stone guards here . But you can make one your self. Just need to make a frame and then put shade cloth over it . Here is where i bought my camper Castaway Campers They have them for sale we had the Brisbane off road camper show here last week . You would have wet yourself at what was there Send me your address and i will send you some Off road camper Mags . They will give you some ideas Ali
  7. Yeah i did have a problem with stones . Here is Aus i was doing huge distances on gravel tracks. a few tracks we did were 800 miles long so you have to do 60 - 70 mph or it would take you ages .There were a few problems with stones. First the car flicks them up into the trailer and pretty much sandblast the paint work ( whoch is pretty much why i had to repaint the trailer )Also the stones bouch of the front of the trailer and hit the back of the car. Here in Aus this is such a problem that they have clear plastic covers that fit over your back windows to stop the stones breaking your back windows I did in fact later on make a stone guard out of Shade cloth , which is what most of them are made of any. They are just designed to protect the trailer and take out the momentom of the stone so it does not hit the back of the car Here is a pic of my one which i made on the way round .This was taken at the most north point of Australia and the only way to get there is by 1000 miles of gravel track. I am about to put on a proper one on to my trailer As you can see here . Need a stone guard as this was the start of another track to Alice Springs. This was pretty much the only way there unless you go 2300 miles around on tarmac and on the tracks Most of the time you can't see the trailer in the rear veiw mirro for dust so make sure the trailer is pretty well dust proof. Some dust in Aus is called Bull dust and that is like flour and they say that can even gets in a sealed tin of backed beans And days and days on driving on this at 60 - 70 mph Hence whu keep the surpension on the trailer simple A place to store jerry cans are always handy hence why i have 4 on the trailer. Not really ideal to carry on the roof of the car first due to weight up there and also in the heat all day . Not much fuel in the middle of no where Hope this helps Ali
  8. Nice read and interesting what you have all done. Sorry to hi jack but Time to show you my little off road camper trailer. Not as fancy as you lot. But i bought mine out of the box . And did not do alot to it unlike you lot Here is it with my 110 On Bribie Island It is basicsly a box trailer with a tent on . It runs on Problics . Working on the idea of keep it simple , less to go wrong . Has a 65 ltr water tank built underneth with a kitchen built into the back door It also has space for 4 more jerry cans and a tool box on the front along with a poll box The tent is on the top and opens like this one for acces to storage ( this pic is not mine but the same as mine ) This si what the trailer looks like when the tent is out The bed is on the top of the trailer and is a large bed It also has an front awning for cooking and as a lounge for camping . The other things it has is a long draw bar this means that you can open the back door on the 110 while the trailer is on the back . Very handy when your Engel is in the back of the car . It also has a Hyman resse tow bar that moves in all angles . So ideal for off roading This is where we went with our camper trailer . We lived in it for 7 moths whilst doing this trip and some pics on our trip on the back of our 90 Works well at wading too I have had this for about 4.5 years now . It was priginally blue but i painted it grey about 6 months ago last summer . This trailer has did 25,000 miles around Austrlia and been to all parts of Aus .And I paid about 3500 pounds new for it.
  9. Well on my 110 i have General Grabbers The ones they come out the factory with . MY 90 has BFG AT's Don't do mud tyres . They are only any good in mud and you have to have rain to have mud and don't get too much if that stuff in Queensland . And Mud tyres are not too good for sand . which is what i drive on most of the time
  10. Had to chuckle at this 4WD . Only in Aus could you have 4WD and eco in the same sentance
  11. mm i have a lead in every car for my engel. But then again they are AU$20 each for a gen engel one here in Aus
  12. I like the D3 ARb bull Bars I have not seen a D3 with out a bull bar over here for ages .
  13. The thing is out here in Aus you need somthing that looks like a RSJ attc to the front of your truck because the Devon and scrapiron ones won't help at all when a roo hits the front of your car and belive me you will hit one , one day
  14. Oh yeah forgot about that They will keep doing the old one but not that it matters to you lot as you can't get them anyway
  15. Yeah but they are designed for touring and not winch challenging. And when touring approach angle is not that important
  16. Yeah have to agree with you And i have those old style ones on both my 90 and 110 and no plans to upgrade to the new one
  17. Ok here is a new bull bar from ARB for the Defender As they say, Aviable now from all ARB shops Full details here ARB Defender |Bull bar
  18. Nah thats fine , Just let me know when you want me there for next year
  19. Here are some pics from the 2010 Tuff trucks ( thanks to Cal415 from the AULRO forum) Bush Ranger Cut down ( or Dakar as they are called in the UK) Rangie S2 Ohter Pics
  20. For once i have to agree with John They were most of the time well over loaded and with Land Rover Springs that made then fun, in the least to drive. On most of the events if the trucks we driving on Uk highway the police would have a feild day with the over weight issue. They are now at least 12 years old for the youngest one . and also the amount of idiots that run around with One Life Live It on there sheds Of discos and other trucks has sort of lost the meaning of the Camel trophy. Don't get me wrong i love the camel trophy and what it was and what it stod for. I had the Shirts, watches, and all the DVD's / Videos and all the carp (apart from the car) but knew alot of people ( and still do) in the camel club . And the trucks (at their time) were like nothing else around at the time. BUT my 90 and 110 that i have now are better set up for touring and doing stuff they did on the Camel trophy than the camel trophy trucks are . The trucks are also well over priced second hand when you consider they are just a 110, disco or rangie that has a roof rack , twin batteries , a bull bar and winch ,snorkle and few other toys , and have been thrashed by a somone who did not care in the middle of a jungle in gods know where
  21. Ahh Karratha . I was stuck there for a few days due to flooding of the river betwwen there and Katherine , it was 12 meters over the bridge Living there you will be familar with the term "Bongs" then and that lovley place Halls Creek
  22. This weekend is the Brisbane 4x4 show I thought i would share with you some of the highlights of the show 110 again on the OP stand And another 110 A nice kited out 90 ( for touring) A D3 with steels Modulars and Mud Tyres. The bull bar is the Norm on D3's here And in the arena Videos of Events in the main arena. And not quite what they do at Billing and of coutrse the complete mad Aussies, who display that with a bit of Momentum you can drove over anything with anything
  23. Land Rover sponser Rugby and Horse riding in the Uk but here in Aus they do it a bit differant and sponser Surfing They have just been a main sponser at the Quiksliver pro Quiksliver Land rover 2010 Pro Land rover Also do wave of the day And for the last week we have had shots like this on the tv
