  1. You don't say if you have a 110 or 90 Put vented disc on They will make a hell of a difference and with good pads will do the job The axles will limit the amount of power that will go to the wheels It a land rover built in safety factor , put too much power thoUgh to the wheels and the half shafts break And I really think you underestimate the power you are going to get a yank motor once it has gone though the 4 wd system What BHP are you looking at
  2. I don't think your 110 is good , rather you range rover suspension is bad No way should a raange rover feel the same as a 110
  3. Both my defender have the safari one Saw this one going cheap in Southampton http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m282/reads90/28042008001.jpg
  4. You need to listern to fridge as he is a class 1 FIGJAM :-)
  5. I had the eberspacher air heat In an old 90 soft top I had It was great worked really well and used to set it on a timer while I was in the pub at might an them come out to the really warm 90 and drive off But also worked great for off road trips Easy to fit too
  6. Just go to halfords and buy a black plastic spray paint but make sure it's plastic/ bumper spray paint or it will crack
  7. What fuel are you using as I have found in the past that TDI don't like super market fuel as it is low in sulphur and cause the fuel pump to start to freeze up but before that it makes the car feel sluggish on hills and has no tourqe. Need to get a fuel additive that adds the sulphur and normally they have injector cleaners too You will Find this helps your TDI I used to use millers in the Uk and found it great stuff and made a he'll of a difference. . Now I am in Aus I don't need it as fuel is cheap so don't need to buy cheap fuel from super markets
  8. I had this with the stereo in my 90, when I put on the indicators the radio would turn off What you need to do is get a an earth wire(. I used a bit of old winch power cable) and attach it direct from the battery to one of the bell housing bolts ( very east to do) and this will give you a better earth Fixed my problem instantly
  9. I used to have long chats to him and he used to always make me laugh, moaning how tough it was to be a farmer these days. But he was saying that learning on his brand new 90 which was sat next to his new tractor But a nice chap when you get to know him
  10. Should not need bleeding the 200 and 300 tdis are self bleeding engInes
  11. There is a reason for that Jules and myself did a deal with ken ( the farmer ) about 10 year or more ago that we would pay him more for a day hire if there were no bikes there at all. Worked and made sure he kept the bikes away
  12. Mm seem to have far too much time on you hands :-)
  13. I have a rear tank in my 300tdi Got it fitted in the UK before the car was shipped to Australia. It fills up from a y peace on the original filler neck so you can fill the back normal tank at the same time. Then when the main tank is empty you flick a switch and a pump , pumps the fuel from the rear tank to the front tank. Used this for our 25,000 mile trip around Australia Here is the tank under the back of the 90, the tank is stainless so should be ok for a while And the filler next for the tank Been on the car nearly 6 years now and still use it most of the time This is what the rest of the car looks like And as you can see or can't you can't see the tank form normal angles and there is no extra fuel filler Ali
  14. Paul Have you thought it could be dirty / crappy diesel Just a thought if that could be what's wrong with both your diesel cars. As dirty fuel may cause problems for the engine management on the focus too Just a thought Ali
  15. I have two tanks on my 110. The rear is standard but the front is a 70 Ltr as seen below But you could just put a 90 one under the drivers seat of the 110 and then have a v8 fuel pump to pump from the front tank to the rear. If you get a series tank you could just fill it up by lifting up the drivers seat BTW. Here is my 110 and you can just see the tank under the drivers side
  16. Don't know if my heater works as in the 2 years I have owned the 110 I have never used it. But the air con works great and is normally on for 10 months of the year
  17. Tank the normal things that go , as Dan said you will need uj's and bearings. But get the car to have a porper service before you go The one thing about there you are going is it is not far from any civilization at any point so if somthing does happen then you can get it serviced on the way. After a drive to sicily can be done in a fiesta so not difficult as on road most of the way. So going that way don' t know if I would call it an overland trip as that gives me more of crossing afica or Australia After all I drove my company car 2000 miles last week on a round trip outback which I have to do every 8 weeks. So the distance is no big thing Just need to be carful when you get there and denote let the red mist come down and break something when your there
  18. Yeah the adapter you need is a defender sender unit in the engine and not a disco one which is not suited to your defender gauge but surprise surprise is designed for a disco gauge. And hence why it reads wrong Same problem happens when people but a v8 from a disco or rangie into a defender So take out the sensor you have and throw it over your shoulder and put in a defender one and all will be sorted
  19. Well i did reply as to why but it has been deleted by the mods So sorry you won't find out
  20. Well then it that case there is quite a bit of sand in the Australian OBC but also quite a bit of mud so can get away with simex . But in a desert there is all soft sand and as I have seen on Fraser simex can make you look stupid in thoses cases I even used to have fun at slindon with my simex, they dig better than a JCB
  21. Was that the real one or the other one
  22. Best for digging They are pretty much useless in sand
  23. Mm quite agree some peole have short memories
