  1. mmm just saves stuff coming though you car and saves damage to you car. Don't want to hit a roo or bong 500 miles from anywhere and damage your car. The greenies and tree huggers wanted to ban Bull bars so the government said ok no bull bars in the town. BUT if you don't have a bull bar on your car you can't go out of the town limits. The greenies and tree huggers backed down. That was the last you will hear of that
  2. Always had to laugh years ago when i over heard a Vauxhall sales man selling a Frontera and the chap said about bull bars. "A frontera without a bull bar coming at you at 40 mph is still going to bloody hurt. A bull bar won't make much differnace to how long you spend in hospoital whén one of these things hit you "
  3. I have had 4 landies now with ARB bumpers (one was a winch challenge truck ) on them and both my Defenders at the moment have ARB bumpers on. I love them they are great. Also pretty much have to have them for the outback to protect you from Kangeroos, Emus and the Bongs, that jump out in front of your car . I got my 90 checked in Lancing by the police to make sure i had an ARB bull bar to protect me from the Bongs my 110 and my 90
  4. Nice But incorrect because if you talk on the foruum the Mods closed and delete the post because it is off topic . pretty much the same for travel . So just have to stick with Tech , which with a Webb address is nerdy
  5. not for me if you are anormal person you will look at that and see Tech and think NERD ALERT
  6. No snow here in Brisbane yet. But there again it was 34 degrees on the golf course yesterday so pretty much no chance of it too
  7. Well you Nige some things never change
  8. As said that is all a crock of Sh*t when you are in the middle of Aus or africa becasue the UK highway code does not count anyway. Don't owrry about the police in the outback as they are too Busy beating up Abo's to worry about anything else And nextime Read the original post before you get on your high horse And the front have more power becasue Ummmmm oh yeah there's an engine bove them and the rear is lighter and if you put more power to them they will lock up sooner than they do anyway
  9. All very well in theary with all you lot and your road rules But now in the real world , and after all this was about being stuck in the middle of nowhere in Africa not In Richmond , surrey. Alot of the people in the Uk would not understand how remote you can get. These places we went to in Aus have no radio or TV ( music radio) never mind Mobile phone For days on end not just a couple of mins untill you move , The problem is when mine went i was 900 Ks (559 miles, or the distance from Southampoton to Glasgow)) from the nearest garage. And about 500 ks (or 310 miles from the nearest person ). > we had taken 3 days to travel the 1800 Ks along this track in those threes days we saw one car going the other way and none going the same way as us . So we were on our own. So sorry but bugger the road rules i would rather live than worry about only runing on three brakes. I would have driven on no brakes if it got me out of the desert, after all there was no one around to hit anyway
  10. I did have this happen to me . I drove 1800ks across the Australin outback typical heavly corrigated tracks ,when all of a sudden the rear nearside brake pipe broke at the Union. I was 900 Ks from the nearest garage . So i undid the unions and took out the pipe, Filled the unions up with the petrol tank repair putty . Let it set and then screw them both back in and then bleed the systema and ran the 900Ks to Alice springs on three brakes , with the camper trailer on the back. Worked well When i got to Alice went to the dealership and got a new rear pipe and fitted . I still hvae the unions in the center cubby box to use if it happens again I always keep that Fuel tank repair putty in the car. Would not belive what i have fixed with that , from brakes, to rad, to Holes in the axel
  11. If you are really that worried about it then get one of these , they sell them in ARB shops Uni Filter Web site
  12. I think you will find the Mushroom top won't fit on to of a Safari snorkle anyway as they are a differant size Diameter.
  13. Did not kno0w there was an option to have it pointing skywards. Mine faces front wards.
  14. mmm no it does not well at least not to the air box. The safari snorkles are designed to filter out the water and let it run down the out side of the tube I have driven for 4 hours in heavy Australian driving rain . (which belive me is very very heavy ) and never had a problem. But if it makes you feel better and nice and warm in side then turn the snorkle top around
  15. Go here and where you ca down load the whole program What i do here in Australia. Top Gear download Although it will be on the TV here in a couple of months anyway
  16. Here in Aus Channel 9 Has bought the rights to Top Gear Australia and to show the Uk show( used to be on SBS, which is like it going from channel 5 to ITV) . They are saying that the new top gear Australia will be presneted by Clarkson with Shane Warne
  17. The other week my engel stopped working , When not in my car it is used at a beer fridge near the pool , so needed to get it fixed Well i found the engel official place on the Brisbane Southside and sent my 3 year 8 month old engel , which had stopped working, in to be looked at . I paid my $55 inspection fee and then waited. A week later they phoned me to tell me that the Compressor had gone and a new temp gauge was needed too. And the cost would be nearly $700. Well after i picked myself off the floor. The chap said that i should scrap it if i was not happy with that price and they would give me $45 for the fridge for scrap. I did tell them i would rather throw it in the sea than sell it to them for $45. I then spoke to Engel as i was not happy. Who did not want to know and told me Oh Well this happens and that is how much it will cost to fix . I was very annoyed by this point as i thought these things were supposed to last for years and are almost Heirlooms . As my wife is about to drop Kid number 2 anyday the thought of spending $700 on a fridge was pretty much a no go As i have said i have a 40Ltr engel but it is in fact an ARB badged engel , so i thought i would go and see the arb shop i bought it from and ask them if there was anything they could do for me . I was hoping a bit of a donation towards getting it Fixed. So off i went to the ARB at Nudgee in Brisbane. Got there and spoke to Alan and told him the state of my engel. At which point before i got to the end he said Yeah you expect something you paid $1100 to last more than 3 year 8 months so bring it in and we will fix it for you no problem and no charge. So all i had to do was find the recipt. mmm this was tricky as i have moved a couple of times since and could not find it . But luckly i have the Old Man Emu welcome letter and my Old Man Emu service record wallet and Check history, which is all done for the 3 year warrenty . This was good enough for them Well about a week and half ago i dropped it of at ARB Nudgee and got a call today from Alan to say come and pick it up it is fixed, New compressor and new temp gauge and all is working fine . Well I can't believe the service i have got from ARB , Thought i would share this with you all as we are all guilty of slagging of companies for bad stuff so should congratulate a company when they do great stuff for us
  18. Middle of next year. At least before he is 2 as it cost alot less for the flight for him . try and take him to his first billing
  19. Ok here is my New winch bitch in training . Small and light no extra weight than you need .Just got to teach him how to use the winch and all will be fine
  20. Well the problem is that the Toyota's have 6 stud and are a tighter spead , where as the land rover are 5 and larger spread I have looked and there is not a convertion tool to convert them. I have a camper trailer with Toyota Hubs on and i am changing them to land rover ones. Main reason they are toyota is that most of the 4x4 on the road in Aus are Toyota and Nissan and they have the same stud pattern You could get some made but may will be chaeper to just sell your beadlocks and buy some toyota ones. Next questioon is if you do get them made would they be road legal . I know they are not in Aus
  21. mmm not that they use alot of fuel anyway. I had one on a 90 soft top i had about 18 years ago. Used to use a nats tiddle of fuel . But kept the truck really warm . Do they even do petrol ones. as they are really for Trucks and Boats which both mostly run on Diesel
  22. I have to admit i got someone else to fit mine as i did not have the time . But i remeber him moaning like buggerary at the time and thinking i am glad he did it and not me ,, and the charge from him doing it was well worth it
  23. well as i remeber the tank, Fuel pump,(as mine pumps from back tank to the original front tank, when the front tank is empty)Pipe to go from tank to tank. Pipe to go from the original filler neck, A Y peice to attc to the filler neck (so you can fill both tanks up at the same time from the original filler) And like most stuff i have bought for landies over the years. Did not fit perfect and had to be push and squezzed into place and a few mods to the car to make it fit . But i have had the same with that on ARB bull bars, Southdown side steps and lots of other stuff
  24. I can feel for you . Since leaving the Uk and Living in Aus. Dealing with any Uk companys in a complete nightmare. Trying to get though to the that you live in another part of the world but yeah happen to speak english is a nightmare. Alot think the Uk is the only place that speaks english. Have a massive agruement with the bank everytime i phone them because they give you a 0845 number which can't be called from oversea's . Or for them to tell you to go into the local branch. mmmm LLoyds arn't in Aus you numpty I also had it the other day that a company want £80 to send a £34 set of defender rear seat covers to Aus. He told me that was the cheapest he could find. I then pointed out that it would cost £18 by royal mail (air Mail) (sent him the webb link with the price)Got them set to my brother in the end as it was easyer for him to send it on . And because what Brown has done to the country ,it makes the Uk a good place to buy stuff at the moment , because the pound is pretty much worthless Although after all that ,have delt a bit with Mud stuff and found them to be really good and really Quick delivery I have a safari rear long range tank in my 90 . I have had it in the car for 5 years and put it in to give more fuel when i drove around Aus . I a very very happy with it . But BTW it came with no instructions but all the bits were with it
