I've never seen a chassis bent like that. What did it hit and how fast?
-
I had something identical and it was due to air in the fuel lines. Put your hand on them on top of the chassis rail under the driver's seat to feel for movement in time with the noise

2nd crunches in a lot of R380s. It's what they do. The problem with 4th may be the gear stick bias springs aren't correctly centred

Are all of your tools accounted for?

Thanks guys. All good tps. I'll see how it goes!

I lined my roof with the reflective bubble wrap with silver tape and it's made a massive difference to the amount of condensation inside.

Better the devil you know. The 300tdi also has its faults, but you can put measures in place to reduce the risk. Its still a good engine

Papiermache or expanding foam seem to work well, finished with a coat of waxoyl, then put it on ebay as "never off roaded"

I prefer the R380. I almost smashed into the car behind when I quickly moved the gearstick into first on a hill start and dumped the clutch.
It actually went into reverse.
No chance on an R380.

Try Kevin at http://adventurehire.co.uk/, based in Bristol. He rents Defenders kitted out and was wanting to sell a roof tent. He may do you a deal

Mine were doing this. I changed the discs and pads, flexi hose for stainless, and pistons in the calipers for stainless, but it started doing happening again on the new discs.
Must have been the calipers. It might be the holes of the retaining pins getting larger allowing the pad to "drop" towards the centre of the hub

I tend to think you need to spend at least around £15 to get something similar to OEM quality. The cheapest ones are around £6. Genuine are £100!

Is it me or have galv chassis gone up by a few hundred pound this year?

Looking at the cover. eg this:
-
You probably have the 4 bolt Adwest box. You can tell by counting the bolts on the top cover. There are also 3 and 6 bolt versions.
The RHD drop arm for the 4 bolt is QFW000020

So a good way to eliminate this as an issue would be to measure the length of exposed dipstick? could you measure yours by any chance.
*insert joke here*

Is it possible that the alloy casting on the front of the engine could be warped causing some sort of misalignment with the waterpump and tensioner?
The timing cover bearing could also have play in it
-
If i'm not mistaken, it increases the magnetic load on the alternator, making it harder for the engine to turn it
-
The kind of driving they're doing (spinning wheels on rock with open diffs), i'm not surprised that they broke. 4:35 is an example.

The June issue of Land Rover Monthly has a large technical section on Td5 injectors. They've cut a head in half and you can see quite well all the places that could leak.
